I kind of envy that. The culture in the US is drastically different. It would be nice if everyone got to wear beautiful things such as this without getting weird looks. For some reason creative and elaborate fashion is saved exclusively for women, though we are seeing some change in that regard.

omg i have never seen the indian style done, only french, and omg that is so smart, dont need to pre count all the beads perfectly, can adjust what you are doing without completely restarting, wonderful!

I had only known the Indian style as it was the one that kept coming up when I was looking to do this for a dress I designed. That and just putting beads on a sewing needle which is how I taught myself to do bead work.

The Indian one is the original method before it was learnt by the French. This method of embroidery was used all over middleeast and Indian subcontinent. Am not sure why the french reversed the direction.

This is so awesome! I learned to sew, knit and crochet from my mom when I was 6 or 7- that was almost 59 years ago! She worked in the Garment Center of NYC for 50 years and taught me so much over the years, and I eventually became a seamstress and designer doing bridal and so much more. She used to take me to all the shops where she worked and I used to see so many mind blowing gowns and dresses, and when me and my brother were little and they had a Christmas party and played music, me and my brother were dancing on the cutting tables! 😆 The very last company she worked for was Richelue designers where they did the Miss America gowns (those gowns would blow your mind! 😳) and she worked up until she was 80 and one day she had a fainting spell and was taken to the hospital and had to get a pacemaker (funny - I had to get one almost 5 years ago), and she couldn't work anymore. For the next 7 years her health and mind went down hill, and she passed away at 87- 9 months after my dad passed away- that was 26 years ago, they were married 63 years - how I miss those days 😢😞🥀 Oh- and I'm definitely subscribing- greetings from NYC!! 🤩🗽🤗💖🧶🪡🧵🌹

My mom didn't have an easy life, she came first to Canada and then to NYC from Poland right before the war to find work, but tragically the war broke out and her parents two sisters and a brother perished in Auschwitz, which out of survivor's guilt drove her to become a workaholic and she worked until she was 80 and her health started to fail. After fainting at work she was taken to the hospital and had to have a pacemaker and had to stop working (who knew that I took would have to get one as well which August will make 5 years), but because she couldn't work anymore her mental and physical health got worse over the next 7 years and then she passed away.😢

I adore this kind of embroidery. It reminds me of the gowns ladies regularly wore in the 1920s and 30s. Then it went out of fashion with the Great Depression and WWII, but made a comeback in the 1950s on sweater sets, blouses and prom gowns. I'd love to see this come back into fashion; it's so feminine! But because of inflation and because this is labor intensive, I don't hold out any hope. 😢 But I will love to watch your videos on it. I was gifted a large amount of beads of all sizes, with plenty of seed beads. (It was a donation to my crafting group) I think I now know what I am going to do with them! And I am going to practice using the pony beads to practice and when I get the hang of it, I will share what I can with my group. 😊

Thanks for the demonstration. I always thought the beads were sewn on embroidery wise. Large beads and netting for outdoor decor, or fancy window nets seems like a good idea. I have a duster with a type of embroidery on it. It is so beautiful. I never know how someone would put this form of bead work on to fabric. I wish I did when I had to replace some sequins and beads onto an aunt top. It would have saved me a lot of time. It is Awesome.

i live in a little village where around lets say over 50 years ago, people were wellknown here for embroideries. i almost started a carreer in designing embroideries 😊 only a few left here but its part of the history. there are still plenty of those old big machines in many big houses left. its somehow fascinating 😊
