Known as SSN-AUKUS, The new submarines will be larger than the Astute. This new submarines will be the future attack submarine for Australia and UK. The construction of this new submarines will begin towards the end of this decade

Sounds like a very good deal for Australia. 3 Virginia class up front to hold the gap till 2040? They can complete the entire aukus into all of the assets to be Virginia class. Of course there's going to be a big time gap until the new class hits water. For just under 400 million I believe that should be 400 billion. Maybe I read that wrong.

The similarities in systems will be more incommon with the BAE designed Dreadnought class SSBN. This sub will be a hunter killer and cruise missile carrier submarine borrowing many systems evolving from the dreadnought class as Astutes and Virginia's are very much older tech.

3 Virginias as a gap fill with option to buy as many as 5 (or more if needed, I figure) before you guys finish and start commissioning domestically produced AUKUS subs in the 2040s. If my comprehension is correct, the plan numbers at least 5 AUKUS subs starting to roll out in the 2040s; about 8-10 (maybe 8-12+) total nuclear subs and I'm guessing military nuclear engineering and science, related tech training for 20k prob like 25k-ish amount of naval personnel by end of agreement.
