Really great what your teaching the youth - now do you ever cook up any of your carch with the class to let them taste squirrel 🐿 or any of the other animals - would be cool to see you trying some of the meat with the class 👍 great video

Yes we do. We have cooked beaver and muskrat on the line after a catch. I got pictures but no video at the time. We will do some videos for sure of the catch and cook in the bush😁

Awesome! People really don't understand how hard it is to catch a wolf. Or to call one in and shoot. Great Job! Someone taught u well.

Thanks, but it has been trial and error and watching what other trappers do. These trapping KZbin channels are very helpful for all of us. Thanks for your comments!

My friend I applaud you for your working and showing these kids the experiences you share with them in the trapping environment while also being safe. It would be unquestionably the greatest thing if other schools could take your example and start the same program all over but I am sure there are some that just wouldn't want to deal with the anti push back or politics instead of thinking of the kids.

I have had nothing but 100% support from the community. We have so many hunting and fishing families in this region so everyone loves it. I teach at one local high school but offer the experience to every school in our district and I can’t keep up with the requests. I’m one of the only teachers in BC that also has a trapline close enough for day trips. It has definitely got other districts attention 😁

Yes they do, and they do often 😂. We have so many wolves and coyotes so I’m not even putting a dent into the population. However, I love the challenge to think like them. Thanks for watching

Good result 👍 congratulations!!! Your experience is interesting, do you put traps on wolves?
@deadpinecollective

I only use snares for wolves and coyotes, no foot holds. I don’t carry a rifle with students so I have to use a snare to dispatch so I’d rather not with a wolf 😂

Thanks. It was a really nice male wolf but unfortunately the tail had very little hair (you can see at the end of the video). I’m not sure if it’s mange or not. Otherwise beautiful hide. My friend is teaching on a remote island in NWT so he has an elder making him mitts in exchange for a hat, so I plan to send him the tanned hide. Thanks for watching

Great what you are doing for those kids. I'm sure it isn't always easy and makes your day longer but they are the future! Another good wolf, couple Coyotes. That's a heck of a good day. Thanks for sharing Brother.

I’m lucky because I get to be on my trapline 3-4 days a week. Kids slow things down a bit, but because I’m out all week I don’t need to check as many traps each day. Often I’m out too much and don’t let the traps soak without scent around 😂. A good problem I guess.😁. Thanks for watching!

"It's the best day ever!" Loved it. Good looking wolf. Almost a shame to turn it into mittens instead of a rug. Surprised at how you have yotes and wolves together. My wolves kill coyotes (and fox and whatever they can catch). Just an idea: it might be easier to get a wolf to lower its head as opposed to getting a coyote to raise its head. A pair of pruning shears in your pocket might be handy to give those stray branches, in front of a snare, a hair cut. It doesn't take much snow to bend a branch and alter a trail. Enjoyed the video a lot. Have a great holiday season.

The tail wasn’t full, almost looks like mange or something, I can’t figure it out. You can see it near the end of the video. It has a great hide otherwise. My friend is teaching in a remote area in NWT and has an elder artist that will make him mitts in exchange for a hat for me. A win win. Wolf is the best fur for snowmobile mitts in the extreme cold up there. Good point on shears and wolf lowering head. Thanks for the comment and for watching

I'm no wolf expert but I'd be kind of leery of letting the kids go out and play in the woods all by themselves and when you know there's a wolf pack in the area but it is also great experience for them to come out in the the woods with you to experience that part
@deadpinecollective
@deadpinecollective Жыл бұрын
The wolves will be nowhere near us if we are in the area. Grizzly and black bears are more of an issue in the spring and fall, but we cover animal safety and bear awareness. The kids are always close to camp and are generally loud 😂. In all my years I’ve only seen a few live wolves and they have all been from a vehicle (or in a snare).
