This is beautiful. I'm not a drummer, so I don't have the language to describe what I enjoy about it. However I am an avid listener and the drums are my favorite instrument to listen to, especially at the hands of someone like Larnell. But reading others' comments makes me realize his playing "reads", his playing is understood to listeners whether or not they have the language to describe what they enjoy about it. After reading others' comments I can discern that what the most experienced drummer appreciates in their listening is also what a person who has never touched a drum set appreciates. And that accesibility is not a given, that's a skill, and that's true Art-at least, it's the kind of Art that I believe in.

There are almost too many things to like in this solo, but I'll point to the one that stood out the most (to me) while also being the most under-stated: the imperfection. There are a number of short moments when the improvised solo broke - the groove fell apart for half a second, or something didn't get hit in time, or there was otherwise a small hiccup... The way these were USED to create something new was just awesome. I've been playing for a while, and I'm positive most experienced drummers understand the concept - but being able to execute it to great creative effect - THAT is what stood out to me here. Thanks Larnell and Drumeo... ps. the sound of that kit and the cymbals. Hats off to the recording engineers and drum techs...

I especially love hearing Larnell solo within the context of a song. He's brilliant no matter what but I think that's where he is even more next level. I'd love to see more of that on Drumeo. Drummers playing solos over a track. Larnell soloing over " One Note Samba" with Laila Biali's band is so enthralling because of how it sets up the song and then take in how he punctuates Laila's piano lines. This guy listens and just makes all the musicians sound better. The glue so-to-speak. I learn a lot from watching him. I think Larnell will become the most recognized percussionist out of Canada.
