There was so much going into this fight. Rose lost the inaugural UFC Women's Strawweight Championship to Carla Esparza in 2014. Carla then lost the belt to Joanna in 2015. Joanna then defended her belt five times in a row before coming full circle by losing to Rose right here in 2017. Rose knocked out Joanna and then had a 5-round war to defend in their rematch. Now Rose has knocked out Zhang Weili. Will this Saturday be another 5-round war where she defends again? If she does, she's one of the greatest.

I was one of the only people I knew that was sure of Rose winning this fight. Just something about Joanna felt so off, and Rose was collected the entire lead up. Plus, Rose looked phenomenal in her wins leading up to this fight. All of the trash talk made me despise Joanna too, there’s no need for that level of disrespect towards your opponent. There’s selling a fight, and then there’s going too far with the disrespect. It’s the most satisfying win in Combat Sports history for me. Rose is my favorite fighter of all time. I shed tears while watching a UFC card for the very first time when Rose beat Zhang to win the belt back. The Andrade loss felt unjust, and Rose was seriously questioning if she even wanted to fight anymore. So to see her not only win, but win in dominant fashion, mixed with the massive hype of the crowd and her amazing post-fight interview (“I AM the best!”), it was truly a special moment in MMA.
