20-20 games in the finals by a swingman. Not even a PF or a center. Yeah, he’s crazy.

This was "healthy-back" Bird (i.e. before he permanently injured his back during the summer of 1985). In a much later interview, Jabbar said Bird was "ridiculous" and "wore us out". Kareem also said Bird may have been the best player he ever played against.

Loved BB in the 80’s. These two teams just made it a joy to watch. Bird did everything needed to win

Larry Joe Bird..the Lakers greatest nightmare, rival, and despite having Magic,Kareem, Worthy... Bird was the best basketball 🏀 player on the court from 1984-86. I grew up on Magic's Lakers vs Bird's Celtics no doubt the greatest rival of my lifetime.

As a Lakers fan, when I saw Larry and Kareem start jawing at each other and in each other's faces ... I suddenly became really worried of the remainder of this game. I knew Kareem didn't play well when he was angry and emotional while, at the same time, was scared of what a vengeful Bird would do.

Kareem said,n I quote Whiteboy I will kick yer ass, among other things.n He would kill Bird in any bigger stronger n martial artist
@FlipTrojan Жыл бұрын
@@noelharris5488 Barely comprehended your atrocious grammar, but I think I gotta handle on it. You DO realize KAJ's martial arts display was performative and in a fictional movie, right? Otherwise, Dennis Awtrey, Danny Schayes, and Maurice Lucas handled Kareem pretty well without being victimized by his alleged martial arts expertise.

@@krisharkleroad8Also in the final minutes, I forget what game of the series it was but he let the 24 second clock run out at a crucial moment, he said later in interviews that he had messed up badly and that summer worked on his game the hardest he ever had in his life to come back and win it all the next season and that's exactly what he did, that's what superstars do, they don't roll over and die, they come back stronger than ever

This game was Bird's best in the finals. Nothing in 86 because the Celts were heavy favorites then.

Actually it was the very next game = game 5 where despite the 97 degree heat, Bird shot 15 of 20 for 34 points and grabbed 17 rebounds and you could feel that LA was on their heels after game 5.

Your Bulls had it so easy, yes, they were very good, but by the time they started their dynasty run, the Lakers and Celtics were in re-building mode and the NBA had like six expansion team's, if the Celtic/Laker teams of the eighties had started in the nineties with your Bulls they ain't winning no 6 ring's, they'd win one , maybe two but that's stretching it home boy, those Laker/Celtic 80's teams were the greatest ever in NBA history, motherfucker's just pounced on their opponent's and you have to take into consideration the Celtics #1 draft pick Len Bias died and then years later rising superstar Reggie Lewis also dies and they were still the best team in the East,,, what a shame,,,, 😟
@elroz16754 ай бұрын
and the best of Pistons (1988-1990) were also spent. But I'd give more respect to the 1990s Bulls than that! The 1992, 1996, 1997 Bulls were among the best. And 6-0 in the finals is very very good at least.@@Gregory-sm9pf

A lot of emphasis I see on 1984, but everyone wants to ignore 1985, how 38 year old Kareem dominated and the Lakers won the title in Boston.
@elroz16754 ай бұрын
ignore? no! It's just this youtube vid is for 1984 game 4. Kareem was great in 1985 - though I;m not sure he was 38. 35 I think? That was the first time ever Lakers beat Celtics in the finals, and did it in Boston.
