Birds hand-eye coordination was crazy accurate. Look at all the passes, even full court passes that landed right in his teammate's hands and his shooting ability from every awkward angle imaginable. Such a BOSS!
@jalesbarjo474014 күн бұрын
He was so clutch, that being bored by easilly winning two 3 point shot contest already, he decided to win the third one with a clutch shot situation! It's my theory, i have no proof, specially with the fact i was born a year before he retired, so i never watched him play... But, given all the stories, the footage, and few games i watched, i think his true plaisure is when he can hit buzzer beaters. Loves it so much that he let loose the game by sitting out the last quarter when his team is ahead, letting the opposite team closing up to the score. He wants to let them have hope of victory. Before killing it! He's a REAL PSYCHOPATH. he takes plaisure in torturing opponents. That's my theory.

I managed to watch about 90% of Bird's games, on TV. I don't remember seeing him get his jumper, or step back blocked more times than I could count on one hand. I could be wrong, but that is my, 72 year old memory. Nice video. Thanks. Yes, Xman was a great and athletic player.

He’s GOAT for sure. One thing these videos gloss over though is that falling into the trainer shot, and his behind the backboard shot, actually didn’t count. Amazing shots regardless, and there were so many others that did count.
@kathieovercash841414 күн бұрын
They said he yelled "Money" on that shot too. He's the boss for sure.

That missed follow was amazing, but I think that three, following his prediction to the Phoenix bench was also amazing: a 180 spin and off one leg. Larry just had to sprinkle arsenic on the cyanide.

I assume we all know about Babe Ruth’s called shot. Everybody…Birds not fast, not athletic, can’t jump. Yet repeatedly calls his shots (even telling the opposing team), still nobody’s stopping him.
@aramhamparian964114 күн бұрын
Coach, you gotta react to some of Larry's historic games. Like his 49 point triple double against Portland in the final year of his career when the dude had to wear a back brace just to play. He hits the most ridiculous three pointer at the buzzer. And had a triple/double.
@robertseverin177314 күн бұрын
That is my favorite of the 3 times he full on victimized the blazers the other 2 being the 47pt trip dub "lefty game" and the 48 pter when he hit the buzzer beater game winner doubled in the corner

Side note on that left handed game. That Portland team gave the Celtics their only at home loss that season and Larry Bird took that personal. Bird didn't want to just beat Portland, he wanted to embarrass them.😂

Great reaction Coach Larry is my favorite player I never have nor even think to Larry out of my top 3 How many players can shoot like a sniper, assistant, rebound and be one of the best passes? 🤔 He was all about winning for his team. He helped make his Celtics work as a machine. This is coming from a lady growing up NY/NJ crazy Knick household ( Even though they sucked in the 80s and 90s) As a kid till now Gen X I loved Larry Bird

I'm in my mid 50's. I've been watching Bird since his senior year at Indiana State. Whoever is putting these videos together, just show the same 8-10 plays. He has hundreds of amazing plays , and shots. Laziness to not dig through his games. In 1988, I drove from Florida to Atlanta to see game 4 of the playoffs. Boston v Atlanta.

Larry absolutely should be in any discussion about the all time great players. Bird went to a 29 win team as a rookie and with 1 player change to the roster in ML Carr and a new coach, Bird was the main reason Boston won 61 games = a 32 game turn around = the biggest single season improvement in NBA history. Bird won ROY over Magic and was 4th in the MVP. Then in the next 8 seasons in the NBA Bird was 2,2,2,1,1,1,3, and 2nd again = that is domination. Bird has the 2nd highest win % of all NBA players = a hair behind Magic and Bird played in the stronger East and never played with a player as good as Kareem. Bird created the 50-40-90 shooting club, did it 2 years back to back ( 87 and 88) and was so close in 85 and 86 that if you total Bird's stats for those 4 years = Bird averaged 50-40-90 shooting over 4 consecutive seasons!! No other "goat" can make that claim. Think about the 50-40-90 club= the players that never did it, even for 1 season = Jordan, Kareem, Lebron, Kobe, Magic, Duncan, should I go on?? And Bird is the only Celtic to ever post a 40 point and 20 rebound game = vs Indiana early in the 87 season. And Bird was 1 steal away from a quadruple double vs the Jazz and sat out the entire 4th quarter. Bird averaged 10 rebounds a game for his career. Thanks for sharing this video. ( I think Bird is the best all around and skilled player I have ever seen)
@mikewatts86714 күн бұрын
Magic’s attitude and leadership is what made him great. Larry was a better passer, better defender, better shooter obviously. Rebounding is really the only thing that put Magic on par with Larry. I say that as a Lakers fan and Magic is still my favorite player. But Larry was better as hard as that is to say.
@JamesGranderson9914 күн бұрын
No, Larry averaged 10+ rebounds a game for his career. Magic didn’t do that, magic is not on the same level as a rebounder like Larry!!! But people forget that he did that with a surgically broken back and surgically bad feet the last 7-years of his career and still averaged 10+ rebounds
@michellejackson667914 күн бұрын
In all the video's I've watched of this man.. he only missed 1 clutch play.. big one.. lol.. but only 1. That's why he is Larry Legend.. give him the ball in a clutch play he would make it happen.
@shaundonlin27714 күн бұрын
The reason he did that against Portland was because the Celtics only lost one home game that season in 1986, and it was to Portland so he was going to give it back to them and make them say you messed with the wrong guy
@apexshaver730111 күн бұрын
BTW: The left handed game where he got the 27 points left handed The other part is he got 20 points right-handed for a total of 47 and hit the game winning shot at the buzzer

Yeah I would choose Larry Legend any day over Lefraud. After that game winning shot that KC called timeout, The Legend didn’t make no excuses or point fingers at anyone. He wanted the ball and delivered. Lefraud on the other hand has shown us all how he acts in times of adversity. (It’s not my fault! I didn’t have enough help! I need more help! Fire the Coach, Trade players etc….😄

Larry didn't grow up shooting 3 pointers. The 3 point line didn't become a thing until he was playing the NBA.
@carls195913 күн бұрын
Years ago, when I was a kid, I remember some did a computer generated boxing match between Rocky Marciano and Mohamed Ali. If they could do that in the early 1970s, why can't they do a CGI version of Bird playing in today's league?
@Ceractucus13 күн бұрын
The NBA only started allowing 3 point shots in the 79-80 season, which was Bird’s rookie season. As good as he was at shooting them, you can’t really compare him with players like Curry or LeBron who grew up practicing them.
