Many nights I would lay down by the water's edge stare into the sky, surrender myself to mushrooms, and play these. They are so entertaining... now when I listen to them sober, or in an altered state, I get emotional. So much self-reflection and self-understanding have come about from these two pieces of art that they have a resonance with me. I know the nuances of every sound, present or past in these works, yet I still can get the feeling as if there is something new and unexpected in the next second. Mac is someone who had a large impact on me. I first heard kool-aid and frozen pizza in 7th grade and watched/listened to every piece of content he shared with the world. I practically used him as a role model in so many ways good and bad. Today going back through these less popular things and stuff I have fond memories with has been hard. I'm not one to comment often on anything as I'm more of a crawler but for the first time since Malcolm's passing I feel obligated to share how much of an impact he has had on me. Tomorrow is a day of big decisions and it was humbling to come back to something in my past that really grounds me.

I swear the more I think about it the more I see that Mac was this generation's MF DOOM. The different personas, the weird experimental production with those vocal samples, the abstract rapping on projects like WMWTSO and Faces. I would've loved to hear the two of them collab. I remember summer of 09 I was going into my sophomore year of high school and listened to kids literally all summer long with my buddies doing rad summer shit. One of the reasons I love Mac so much, is because of the moments and memories I created with my friends while listening to his music.
