Heres one nice rule. "Atomic Bomb" So all players agree on a time set on a timer (2 hours, 3 or so on) and that's the time limit for the game to keep it from going too long, keep the flow of the game going, as well as guarantee a game being finished. So at the end of the timer, whichever side has the most victory cities "discovers" the Atomic Bomb, drops it on the other side and ends the war. So you play a 2 1/2 hour A-Bomb game, at the end of 2 1/2 hours the time is up, say the allies have 7 cities and the axis have 5, the allies discover the A-Bomb, drop it on the axis and the war is over, victory for the allies and so on.
@BoardGameNation Жыл бұрын
I like it! That kind of sounds like the tournament rules. Each game of 1942.2 has a time limit of 5 hours. After that, the player with the most victory cities wins. Thanks for sharing!

I found this video very different from most. If you've ever played fortress America they have cards which is drawn well we created cards for axes and allies. This modification was done back in '86 and we have fine tuned the cards over the years. We usually play one game a week so that's almost 52 games a year. We will use the classic map incorporate new units go with original prices battleships two hits and the cards are there to make a fast unpredictable stress-free game . If you are interested I could send you some examples of the cards I think everybody would enjoy it . We play classic with cards maybe four or five times a year but our go-to is global of course with the anniversary that's a good game too cheers and thank you

Our house rules for playing with multiple people in a domination game is messages. If you want to create a pact with someone, you would have to write it on a piece of paper and send it to the player so everyone has a chance to see that a message is sent. It costs 1 IPC to send. The catch is that anyone that sees it can spend 3IPC to intercept it. Also paratroopers. Using a bomber and 1 infantry. The bomber is limited to a movement of 4. Aircraft against a submarine. The rules state that Aircraft can not attack submarines. However, we modified it so that an an aircraft or groups of aircraft get one shot at a submarine or group of submarines. This was a common occurrence during World War 2 as submarines would travel on the surface a majority of the time. They would get one strike before the submarine dove. Who else has some house rules?
@BoardGameNation3 жыл бұрын
Those are really interesting! I hadn't seen the range limitation on the paratrooper rule before. That would make that a bit more workable. I like the air unit hitting sub rule, but I wonder about giving the subs some kind of buff for balance. Maybe the Wolf Pack ability (if attacking with 3 of more subs they, attack at a 3)? All fun stuff! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
@BobaFett9073 жыл бұрын
In the a Wolf pack, there is only one roll of one dice. Unless you have multiple aircraft attacking. So any more than one aircraft against one a sub is on die per aircraft. One or more subs against one aircraft is one die. Never thought about buffing the aircraft against a sub.

What is espionage?
@BoardGameNation4 жыл бұрын

I would let a novice player play a powerful country. I would set time limits per each turns to keep it fast paced. I would narrate my first turn so the novice player gets an idea. Not sure if Id add anything that might upset the balance as Larry said. Most are great games that don't need house rules.

@@BoardGameNation I forgot about a solo variant that I came up with during Covid. This involves cards that the a.i opponent would pick up. The cards would give the opponent directions on movement, attack or stand still. Combat is resolved by dice. This could be used for any area control board game.

Sorry, with all due respect to Larry, we get the issue that house rules present with the balancing of the game. It would have been more interesting for him to weigh on some that he felt were better than others, more fun, terrible ideas, etc. As to how this is not everyone therefore, he can't apply them to the product, how about making them optional that could be incorporated knowing it that it may impact the game, to add some flavor? Otherwise, why do this interview on this topic?
