Imagine basically being so tough that you can stand and take everything that Larry Holmes can hit you with square on the jaw for 15 rounds and not only not go down, but STILL be trying to win. Absolutely incredible chin. Incredible stamina, and incredible guts. And he hasn’t even got brain damage. That’s a miracle.

@the greatest3303 Have you seen test results that indicate no residual damage to Cobb's brain? Neither have I. But no one with a modicum of appreciation for what he just saw could venture the opinion that Randy Cobb didn't receive long-term injury from that beating and the many other contests in which he ate punch after punch. CTE shows up years after the infliction of blows. And for Randy Cobb, those years are now.

@@jamesbrice6619 No, I haven't. He hasn't appeared in a film or tv episode in over twenty years. I can't prove that shortly after turning fifty, Cobb ended his acting career due to medical reasons. He was quite popular in that guise, but it does require a measure of mnemonic skills and mental agility. Fifty is about the age when CTE really starts to kick in. Can I prove Cobb received permanent brain injury from getting pounded to jelly? No, I can't and I said so. But you have to have a very unrealistic attitude about boxing to proclaim, "And he hasn't even got brain damage. That's a miracle." It would indeed be something of a miracle, if true. What do you think getting smashed in the head thousands of times by the most powerful punchers on the planet does to the human brain? Do you honestly believe it has no effect? What do you think the guy's made of?

He's got the shoulder roll he doesn't station himself or barricades in the Philly shell he shoulder rolls and catches shots with his palm it gives you a feel of the opponent's punching power is he pushing the jab or still has snap it debunks the stiff white guy stereo type Cobb also put combinations together walked down his opponent's they looked like scared prey in the teeth of the predator. He went championship rounds got no credit from Howard Casual saying the level of talent was a mismatch 😅 Tex sadly was Robbed of a career as a titan if you know boxing you know the real one's when you see them take the opponent's best shot keep coming Holmes tripping on his own feet trying to get away feeling the ropes on his back like the spider's Webb once you tangle you get 8 legged or combos landed cause you're trapped some guy's can use it other's don't seem comfortable being the prey and being preyed on is a scary feeling you better have a Judas priest fending for his Babarras he'd rather see Jesus die why I'm sure it's cause he can take a piece of the lesser man's money but he tries that with a Crusader the swords tip and you get ten fold of change in kind. You lose the mansion the gold shrines the grand alter the library the chest of shekels collected or schemed into a hoarders treasure should be Christian to have Howard keep his hair hat the same cheap suit cause the most points is nothing but burden if you have to hide it paranoid of the Barrons the Pirate's who played fair then didn't when the goal post moves you can't hide it and pretend insulting a man's intelligence is Torah practice with those secret words the know is all who know but the Gentleman sees a circle formed around him and people making strange sounds that you don't know if they're praising you or ridiculing you that gentle as doves but wise as serpent's phrase just crossed my mind but you probably know all about it and know there's nothing to worry about but who's telling the truth and who can't stop lying it's like these people are passive and those people are aggressive and one might of shown teeth to the other who is scared but can't tell if he's telling lies to attract his David slayer of giant's but he must be brave enough to say it straight cause I don't see any damsels 😅

If it had gone 20 rounds, Cobb would’ve won because for 15 rounds he proved that Larry Holmes could not knock Cobb out & Holmes would’ve worn himself out by the 20th making Cobb’s face look like a tomato. 🍅🍅🍅😃

I CAN believe the referees, Howard. Howard Cosell is a a strange dude. Tex had serious b@lls...I mean it IS Larry Holmes! He did great!

Cosell was a fool. If the ref had called the fight there would have been outrage. Cobb continued swinging and fighting. His corner should have stopped the fight.

When Johnny Carson interviewed Tex, he asked about Larry Holmes. Tex replied, "Well, Larry was playing a very aggressive form of 'Tag', and for fifteen rounds, I was 'it'".

Cobb slipped and blocked lot more punches than I had realized after watching this. Don't get me wrong .as I know he took a lot of punishment too but , he had some defensive skills. I wonder how good he could've been with the right trainer.

What Cobb said about cosselle was very true . Back in the day when a fight was on TV I'd turn the volume off so I didn't have to listen to that a**hole. When it was close circuit I had to suffer. ( for you young folks.. Cable hasn't been around for ever.)

"This type of savagery doesn't deserve commentation." Exactly. Had Cosell walked off the "set" in the middle of this fight, his point would have had so much more weight. But you do have to give credit to (the classy) Holmes for not pounding away on Cobb in the end. And, he had a similar experience when he fought Ali.

"I figured some time down the line Larry's going to stand and we're going to get it going. Larry didn't figure that way. Larry figured that mostly what we're going to do is play a very very advanced game of tag. I'm telling you right now, after 45 minutes I was it." - Tex Cobb

Ol' Howard Cosell was wrong in saying Cobb was hurt. He was never in danger of going down, just a bruised up face. Cobb was always coming forward and throwing. The commentators didn't know how legendary Cobb's chin was. Same thing against Shavers, and Shavers hit wayyy harder than Holmes here.
