popping is a visually boring style to me usually, but DAMN Soyuz is di-freaking-sgusting. I really enjoyed his fluidity and how he flowed through different counts like at 1:36-1:45 then when he ended with a strong hit. Musicallity isnt just doing a hit or a certain move on a beat, that's something I learned a while back As for Larry.. SHEESH, I was surprised by that bullet/shotgun reverse concept he did in his first exchange, also in his 3rd round I didn't know he knew house like that. Also his musicality is nuts too, I don't know if people just don't like him or what, but he lowkey wasn't getting any love. If I can hear it, I KNOW they can too😂😂😂 Edt: I realized neither of them are getting a lot of love, I realized like yall said it's not a battle, but still I don't understand why people don't show more love to the art and effort of these 2. it brings out the best in both dancers, as well as just lightens the move. like you don't even have to cheer, do the finger guns or something😂😂 its something I noticed is DRASTICALLY different from the U.S. and France
@mesutramsey36202 жыл бұрын
i dont think its like that. its quite a chill session for people to just enjoy dance. even in other videos of other dancers the viewers are mostly just paying full attention and not cheering wildly.
@popeyeschicken35352 жыл бұрын
The vibe here is different than a battle. It’s more of an exchange. People just take in what the dancers bring out. Resulting in less crowd reactions most of the time & he was getting love tbh.
@alfredwilliams67882 жыл бұрын
Almost everyone in the audience are at mastery level of dance. At this point the appreciation of dance is at a deeper level compared to a full crowd of both professional and unprofessional dancers, hence the chilled reaction. And it's not just for Larry. Even for Soyuz. They both bursted moves that would on a normal day make a regular audience go crazy wild with applauses and screams. But like I said, at top tier level, the appreciation of dance is quiet but deep. It's like everyone watching needs to pay rapt attention not to miss any thing or two they could learn from fellow dancers. Really cool if you ask me. No gimmicks. Just a display of awe at the level of mastery and creativity these dancers exhude in the exchange...
@makesmartTROYces2 жыл бұрын
@@alfredwilliams6788 I see what you're saying, they've see/do this stuff on the daily, so it's not impressive. but I still wish people showed more love to both dancers, like at least smile, do the finger guns, clap at the end of their performances.

@jamondavis55732 жыл бұрын
I think some people are missing the point of these exchanges. It’s sparring. These dancers aren’t going 100%. This is to explore and sharpen each other without feeling the pressure of competition. This watch through I focused on Larry SO, THIS IS WHAT I LEARNED: I’m not 100% sure but, this exchange reveals something about Larry that Laurent hinted to a while back. I remember Laurent saying something like, my brother is the flashy, look at my sneakers dancer. Now, this was back when they didn’t know English that well so, I’m sure he’d clarify better now but, I think what he was alluding to is Larry having a strong foundation in footwork. And it shows. His only round where he was comfortable flowing within a full technique was that house round. He was his most creative and although it wasn’t his best round battle wise it was his best consistency wise. Doesn’t mean he isn’t proficient in other styles. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying it’s one of his strongest styles. It also shows that he’s not or wasn’t at the time of this recording, a long winded dancer. Not that he can’t go on forever dancing. Just that he’s a battler and so, that has shaped his approach to dance. He constantly thinking of the best way to attack and a striker attacks in bursts. And, I think the 4th exchange also tells a lot about Larry’s memory. The dude’s ability to remember movement is incredible and may be the secret to the twins’ musicality. Those slow mo’s and reverses are more than just cool tricks. They are consciously paying attention to every detail in those moments making the animation look even more unrealistic. How does this add to musicality? Well, if you can remember the way you contort your body in a set of movements down to the muscle, it’s nothing to hear a beat and remember it’s form and order. Match those two and you look unreal. That’s what I took away from Larry, this watch through. Let me know what you all took away from the video?
@alfredwilliams67882 жыл бұрын
You expressed my thoughts on this...especially the point of the exchange being giving dancers longer time to sharpen their skills while learning from one another. You can tell Larry was trying too hard not to switch on battle mode as he is accustomed to. He brought out workshop Larry. This was a Master Class!
@jamondavis55732 жыл бұрын

I agreed until you got to the long winded part. We've seen Larry win 7 to smoke. Him and his brother consistently make it deep in the biggest events and do hours long workshops regularly. Larry went straight from a workshop to a flight to this exchange I believe. He just didn't have time to rest. You could argue Lau has stamina issues when it comes to dancing for a while, but not Larry.

@@TooneUntitled How’s it going? Thanks for the insight and context. I was aware of some of that but not all. Those factors will definitely have an impact on your ability to perform at high levels over a long period of time. I will say this though. Being a long winded dancer, to me, is more referring to how long you’re dancing consistently. Like a 10 minute round versus a 1 min one. What I was trying to get at with my first comment was that Larry’s choice of the duration of his rounds doesn’t match the occasion. We know he can dance long durations because he’s performed on stages (Beyoncé & WOD). But, because he’s in battle mode, it feels like I’m watching Usain Bolt (the greatest 100m and 200m sprinter of all time) run a Marathon (26.2 miles/ long distance). I hope that made sense… Basically, if this is a battle Soyuz loses almost every round but, it’s not and because Soyuz fits the vibe of the event, it kind of becomes a “gap filler” between the actual skill of the dancers. It’s like how Laurent danced Hip Hop for the last round of the Disconnected battle he was recently in. It was a better round, hands down but, it wasn’t for the event he was in. (I’m a Twins fan btw. Im not dissing them in any way)

@@TooneUntitled Lastly, Larry’s slow mo round was his best one for this video. It felt like he was giving us a sneak peek into the way that his brain works and that’s really what these rounds are about. Giving dancers, firstly, the keys to what make you a great dancer.
