I saw Larry in Kitchener Ontario in 1986. After the concert he sat down on a picnic table and just answered kids questions. He was humble, funny nd very wise. I'll never forget it.

I have a worn out pocket New Testament that I got Phil Keaggy to autograph. Next I went to a Randy Stonehill concert and went up to him and asked him to sign the same Bible. He said, “Hey, I know that guy” then he signed his name right under Phil’s. And then I made the comment “Now all I need is Larry Norman’s signature. Randy said, “I’d be in good Company.” After that I bought concert tickets to see Larry in a little church near Leavenworth Wa. When I arrived at the church there was a sign on the door saying the concert was canceled due to Larry being ill. Short time later he died. So my heart was sad that he died at a relatively young age and I didn’t have the three contemporary pioneers of Christian music’s names all in one spot. R.I.P Larry!

Keaggy and Stonehill should have had more integrity than to autograph a Bible...

@@hurdygurdyguy1 Really? Is that actually important? Is that what Jesus would be concerned about if He saw it? People used to write in their bibles all the time. They would write their whole family's history and mark the high points in them. They dedicate them to a loved one and write it in the bible. Then there's those that mark up their very favorite bibles all over the place with colored ink and pen and pencil to make notes of what was inspiring and what to remember or to look up later etc. What's sacred about the bible isn't the actual bible. It's the words in it. It's reading and possessing the living words in our hearts. It's alive. If we don't take it out of it's spot on the mantle and open it up and read it, wear it out daily. Mark in it put our names in it. Make a note to your friend in it to show you care. It's Christ what is THE word. "The Word Became Flesh". Give your life fully to Jesus. Things like that won't be a big deal to you anymore. Loving others will. Sorry if I've offended anyone. If this offended then maybe "look into Jesus, He's Got The Answer!"

@@friguy4444 nope...family members marking passages in their Bibles, making notes about family history etc etc is different than getting a celebrity's autograph to admire but if you're attitude is "meh, the Bible's just another book, whatever" fine by me... "Please Mr. tRump, please sign my Bible!" "Sure, kid...that'll be $59.99"

Larry Influenced me so much that I don't chase the worlds love or the foolishness of my own pride and lusts. I try to surrender them all daily to Christ and lay them at the Cross. Not that I'm perfect but I am Clean because of what He did on the Cross and out of the Grave! and Free! I'm Saved forever now and will never ever turn away again as I did when I was young and lost. I know one great thing. Jesus is THE Way, THE Truth , THE Life. Not "A" way or "A' Truth or "A" Lifestyle.

I first heard him when I went to a lunchtime concert at the University of Alberta, nearly fifty years ago. I remember him badgering the sound man for "more guitar" and singing a song questioning why the devil should have all the best music. I was not yet a Christian and I had no idea who he was or what he was singing about. I would soon learn. I forgot about just how much of a true character he was. Songwriter, singer, and personality. He was simply amazing. I love the first wavers of Jesus rock. Having said that, the only other person I can think of who combined all of the elements I described was Keith Green.

I've seen Larry several times, talk to him a couple of times, and have owned many of his albums. He was a musical genius, untrained, natural. He had a perfect pitch, and couldn't read a note of music. His communication style on stage naturally fascinated audiences. there was no such thing as boredom when he was on a stage speaking or performing. His faith was sincere. He believed what he said. unfortunately, there is a dark side. He seems to have had some deep-seated relational pathologies that kept him from maintaining relationships with many friends, with women, etc. Stonehill, once his closest musical friend, would of course part ways from him for the sake of personal sanity. LIkewise, it is likely that Larry had a son out of wedlock whose paternity he denied. He never "Played well with others" for very long. Perhaps his early upbringing lacked some of the relational shaping necessary to handle fame at a young age. There was certainly a wonderful personality in there, but ultimately, he was self-limiting in many ways.

Who in world would listen to Stuplantis?..this is Larry Norman.

Even as a Christian teenager in the '70's I couldn't stand Norman and the whole Christian Music scene... found it to be very pedestrian music at best... still can't stand it..Sister Rosetta Tharpe was so much better!
