Vern Gagne couldn't get out of his own way. On top of that, he pushed his son who had no business being a main eventer.

Wow Larry looked amazing for his age. Unfortunately he looks better than Curt looked in late WCW. I do miss Mr. Perfect. He was a main stay from my childhood and teenage years. Man he could go. Hell of a worker and a great mind for the business

I will give Vern Gagne some credit for giving his wrestlers some time off vause they worked at least 275 days tp 300 days tops but the cons out did the pros but only by a little bit.with Vern cause he was way to strict &.set in his very stubborn ways that refused to change with the times but Vern was still s mediocre promoter overall but there was definitely worse promoters out there

Today's promoters wouldn't do that, unfortunately.

You ought to polish up on your wrestling history and get out of the wwe bubble because the awa was one of the top promotions of its time. Amongst the hundreds of promotions that popped up over the decades, making it to the arguably second best takes a lot more than a mediocre promoter. Verne broke in more stars into the business than anyone else and had an eye for talent unlike anyone. This combined with his strong moral compass and overall character makes him literally one of the greatest wrestling promoters of all time.

@snoochpounder Verne did but, unfortunately, Vince took some of AWA's top talents and the last couple of years for AWA were awful.

First of all until near the end, Gagne was a great promoter, and no one made more stars than Gagne in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s. The talent in the AWA during this time period was the best in professional wrestling and there wasn’t even a close second. He demanded a lot, but also paid very well and gave his wrestlers so much more time off than the other promoters it’s ridiculous.
