You really didn't MUCH listen to what he said did you? He said the earth was covered in ice during the ice age. 50,00 years ago. So where did all that ice go???? Since it is gone now you might have noticed. Maybe not huh? And he said there were NO Toyotas then. Get it. A joke - sort of. Need me to S-P-E-L-L I-T O-U-T F-O-R Y-O-U. NASA recently also reported - YES NASA, (the guys with all those satellites) that all the ice that is being lost on one side of Antarctica, it being formed on the other side. In fact, maybe more ice. BTW - they believe the poles N-S may shift every 12,000 years or so based on the alignment of the mineral patterns in rock. Further, I don't think the oil companies are eliminating the Amazon Rainforest, although they are probably part of the problem, one of the largest carbon dioxide "sponges" on planet earth. Further, ONE large forest fire, puts out more carbon dioxide, and noxious gases than all the recorded pollution made by man since the dawn of civilization. BTW - What are YOU driving?
@MrMojoRisin53

Henry Raymond Yes, Ice ages have happened in the past, Earth has gone through many cooling and warming periods. The Earth getting warmer or colder isn't the issue, the issue is why. We have climate records going back thousands of years and when we see these changes they are in response to something. Some of these thing could be ET impacts, large volcanic eruptions, anomalies with the sun etc. The problem with the warming today is that it is more rapid than warming or cooling events in the past and we have no natural reason for it. We have no ET impacts, no massive volcanic eruptions pushing green houses gases into the atmosphere or anything like that. What we do have though is a rapid warming trend that started at the industrial revolution and has rapidly increased at the same rate of our production of co2. Here is your Antarctic ice explained, it was explained years ago but you must've ignored that part.: www.skepticalscience.com/increasing-Antarctic-Southern-sea-ice-intermediate.htm I'd also like to see a source for that forest fire figure.

My point here is that I am rather suspicious of our scientific community who quite recently has become very interested in global warming. Coincidently right at the time they would like to receive more "research" money from our government (us). They seem to be focused on carbon emissions primarily from burning fossil fuels, not sunspot activity, not natural factors, not forest fires, not de-forestation no, burning fossil fuel. Remember this is the same group who told us we would become fuel independent from using nuclear energy. Somehow that now seems to have fallen out of favor. One has to wonder just how objective these studies really are. They should have become much more concerned thirty years ago but they evidently were too busy. I have found several websites (see pollutants from forest fires etc.) that describe the huge amounts of carbon dioxide and poisonous gases that escape from a forest fire. But hey what about GMO crops are they less efficient at "breathing" co2. What about development. Ocean warming that releases CO2. I just don't trust these so called scientists.

Henry Raymond "They seem to be focused on carbon emissions primarily from burning fossil fuels, not sunspot activity, not natural factors, not forest fires, not de-forestation no, burning fossil fuel." The sunspot activity and other natural factors are part of every single model any climate scientist has ever run, they are accounted for and have been shown over and over to not be able to account for all of the warming. Also things like deforestation are absolutely talked about by climate scientists as a factor in this. Not only are we pumping large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere and oceans, but the large forests act like a sponge for that carbon, so with less forests less carbon is absorbed and even more stays in the atmosphere. You're not really making too many good points against manmade warming haha

it's amazing that people who are so ignorant can be so rich and famous. Why do people think global warming is a myth when there is so much science behind it. For some reason it was turned into a political issue when really it should just be a reason to take care of the planet. Liberals and conservatives should be on the same team for this one. I'm sure Jesus is super stoked that everyone is desecrating the planet.

Larry is an entertainer and he's playing to his audience. If he was on MSNBC or public television or radio, he'd likely be cracking jokes about republicans. The analogy is pretty silly because it just doesn't make sense. It's like having a hole in your roof and saying it's all because of the rain that your floor is wet. Or going out in the sun in just your shorts and saying it's all the fault of the sun that you're in pain.

@MrMojoRisin53 8 жыл бұрын
+Dell Scotten That's not the issue, the issue is the RATE OF WARMING. The global temperature is going to fluctuate over time but this current warming trend is incredibly rapid and is a direct response to the burning of fossil fuels increasing the level of CO2 in the atmosphere and the oceans.
@jamesosborne9666
@jamesosborne9666 8 жыл бұрын
+Dell Scotten Well after 2012 the temperatures will match what the climate change scientists predicted. This is because they fudged the data in 2012. A Texas congressman wrote this: “It appears NOAA altered data to get politically correct results and now refuses to reveal how those decisions were made.”

+Dell Scotten Also note that only scientists who agree with climate change will get funded. Nice incentive to lie! There's a petition started by OISM (Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine) with over 37K degreed signatures, over 9K by Ph.Ds. The dissenters (as they are called now) don't get funded and basically silenced. This appears to be very suspicious to say the least!
@MrMojoRisin53
@MrMojoRisin53 8 жыл бұрын
James Osborne You realize there are 10.6 million accredited scientists that fit the criteria needed to be in the OISM petition. so .3% of ALL scientists in the US support your notion and even fewer of those scientists in the petition are climate scientists, let alone the vast amount of international scientists that disagree with you and them would make that .3 shrink to a number not even worth discussing. Sure, some surgeon or mechanical engineer might disagree, but they has no more background in climate science than you or I.

Where did you get this "4 decades worth of data" from. There's more than one way to collect data: trees, stratum, ice cores, etc are all used to give accurate data from hundreds to tens of thousands of years ago. Just because you don't know something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You have massive gaps in your understandings of everything you're talking about yet you persist on defending fatuity. You're not stupid, just try and research your findings more thoroughly so that you're not uninformed

@ShaneIrwinPhoto yeah I am aware of what a solar flare is and what it does. Don't pretend like it's new news for me or the thousands of climatologists who study the atmosphere everyday. It isn't a single bogus or near-bogus weather report---it's a study on the world's climate dramatically rising, and why don't YOU write a scientific report or show me one that conflicts with the concensus point by point.

Alarmist predictions have created this man and millions like him. For years incorrect headlines were indulged with hardly any scrutiny. Freezing or warming it mattered not a jot - money rolled in to a small cabal of researchers on the back of apocalypse. The culmination was a major declaration via Al gore's "inconvenient truth" and from there the whole edifice began to collapse. The movie invited critical analysis with it's "case closed agenda" and flaw after flaw was uncovered. The public looked in disbelief as the start of many unscientific traits were uncovered the only conclusion for the public was "we won't be duped again". Those involved simply will not recognise the issue only definitive proof will do now predictions based on models will not be entertained by the public - credibility is shot. Yet incredibly the spin continues. A barely measurable temp variance is being used to trumpet "highest temps ever" - will they ever learn?

I'm hoping this question is genuine ignorance and not facile. Your local experience and how you 'feel' things is roundly irrelevant. It can be colder and warmer in place to place year to year, but the over all world temperature is heating degree by degree... carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has gone up by 1/3rd of what it was... this is a MASSIVE problem... ecosystems rely heavily on homeostasis. The evidence has been tested and repeated. Global warming is as factual as evolution and gravity.

It doesn't matter what Al Gore believes. Since this is an issue of science the only people that get a vote on this should be the climate scientists, since they're the ones doing the research/data collection. The overwhelming consensus that they've come up with (hovering somewhere around 97%) is that climate change is real and is primarily caused by man's activity. Whatever Gore's opinion on other issues may be, he's at least mostly right on this one.

conn hensly Of course it isn't, exactly my point from my first comment in this thread. UN has established one theory as fact when in fact there are other theories for global warming. Then those scientists that disagree with UN are villainized, ostracized, discredited, etc... That's what worries me about all of this. Example; I watched the founder of the weather channel state that climate change was a hoax. Then every article, news piece seemed a total cover up to discredit his statements. That was profound, never have I seen something like that. The same thing happens for anyone who speaks up against climate change theories. Now it has gone totally political, democrats are pro UN climate change and republicans are anti UN climate change, strange!

When these guys all say, "it's just a natural warming cycle, it's happened all throughout history" they are not wrong. However, when we see big spikes or drops in the climate record in the past it is always in response to something tangible. Whether it was anamolys from the sun, extraterrestrial impacts, volcanic eruptions etc, when the climate changes there is always a trigger. The climate is changing rapidly right now, there is a rapid rate of warming and no natural trigger that can be pointed at as the cause, however it is in direct response to the start of the industrial revolution and as more man made green house gases are pumped into the atmosphere and absorbed by the ocean the higher and higher the averages get. So yes, warming occurs naturally but there is no natural mechanism driving the rate of warming we see today, only man made forces.

What's funny is the people in the comment section actually taking this seriously. "Larry the Cable Guy" is a comedian. These are jokes, not meant to be taken seriously at all. He isn't actually like that. Larry just is the character behind Daniel Whitney, a highly educated man who is a multi-millionaire.

Does Larry never drop his act or something? Everythign he does outside stand up he is still Larry the Cable guy. I would like to see an interview where he is just himself and not his character.

@superpolesROBLOX That's what scientists do.....write. Why don't you study climate for yourself and then make your opinion....dramatic in terms of the links we find with emissions since the Industrial Age to today.....just look at the Ozone crisis back in '92...that was clearly man-made. Just read a scientific journal......please.

@chobicus I'm sorry. Are you a climatologist or have considered the industrial age growth at all? What about the Sun? are you implying it has gotten more intense? hotter? baloney. The Sun is relatively the same as it was for millions of years. It's the composition of Earth's atmosphere that counts.

My comment isnt trolliing I am entitled to my opinion, you know free speech in this wonderful world of technology . I saw the headline to the video and couldn’t help check it out. Let’s remember one thing, Dan Whitney created a character in order to save his failing career, the character was created to be a hick who pandered to the lowest common denominator, this character was Larry the cable guy. The jokes in this video are poor and a character should not be commenting on such a serious issue.

@Lius525 you do have rigid ideological views, your just on the other side of the spectrum. You talked about evidence. Yes evidence is nice however the only thing out there is theories and alot of them. You cant point to one single report or group of scientist that can link man made carbon emissions to changes in weather. Is carbon dioxide a green house gas? yes but so is water vapor.

Oh thanks good evidence. Look I'm on your side but statements like that don't further the cause...I understand the financial gains for some i know the rothchild interest in alternative energy but just saying "ask any scientist not on the governments doll" or whatever isn't true. There are independent scientists that believe it...

@94SexyStang Nobody is claiming the arctic isn't still going to be cold; the point is that global temperature on average is rising and the rise in temperature doesn't have to be that large for there to be any effects. But I'm sure you and Larry the Cable Guy, PhD know better than the vast majority of the world's climate scientists.

The scientific consensus was in and is now changing. It doesn't take much of a google search to find video and articles with scientists recanting. Tiny portion of the GDP? Might seem tiny to you but fuel and electric prices directly effect the cost of everything else.

Humans are not the main cause, in fact very small if any to the point where it is almost within such a small percentage of error that it is not quantifiable evidence. Like I said global warming after the last Ice Age, and also it happened when dinosaurs were around. It's normal.

@crookhunter Well we all know that H.L. Mencken is the foremost expert on climate science........ I mean anybody who can use the word "hobgoblins" as a means to refute undeniable scientific research must have a far superior intellect than anyone else in the field.

If you're talking shit about Larry the Cable guy you're a dipshit. I love Carlin but he had his faults and unfunny moments. As funny and brilliant as Carlin was he could never jump on stage and deliver 200+ punchlines in under an hour and a half. Larry the Cable Guy is funny the same reason Mitch Hedberg is funny; they tell jokes. There's nothing funny about someone who thinks they're smarter than you are and that's why Carlin' s comedy turned to psychotic ramblings toward the end. Man was too focused on passing a point he forgot what made him popular; which was being F U N N Y
