I use to live on Jackson St. Crazy to see Dayton like this.

It is now available from the Library of Congress where I donated it. And sorry my camera work was so jittery for all those who are complaining. I shot it to just get a copy for my own use and never intending to share... but then I did. Thanks for the positive feedback from those who appreciate it.

Very interesting piece of history. I've never seen or heard of this flood. I enjoy old films very much for the main content but also to just see the clothes, cars, and people.

For anyone interested in more information about the Great 1913 Flood, I highly recommend Geoff Williams' book, "Washed Away." It has little background about the weather event(s) that led to the severe storms, but it features hundreds of anecdotal stories about the experiences of those who lived through it. Many stories are heartbreaking even 100 years later, but there are also a lot of incredible survivor stories and even a few chuckles. It's available on amazon.com. (I have no affiliation with the writer, publisher or amazon.com; I just think it's a fantastic book.)

Thank you for sharing this really interesting video about Dayton in the 1913 Flood. You said that it was donated to an archives. Do you know where (which archives)? Thanks!

This would be a nice addition to the flood exhibit at Caroline Park if it isn't there already.
