This is the most surreal Pierce Hawthorne-ish interviews ever. "You're polish and Indian? You must hate yourself" "I'm going to seize on and attempt to stoke the pain surrounding the absence of your father and then abruptly segue into your love of musical theater"
@LunaCidnie4 жыл бұрын
Larry acts in this interview like he’s never heard of a child having an absentee father. It almost comes across as if he finds it strange only because his dad is Indian. But like a lot of people have dads that aren’t in their lives? It’s not that weird.

As is the case with far too many (particularly 30-minutes-or-less) online interviews the editing is not doing this thing any favors, but I think also for whatever reason Larry simply was not in fighting shape this day.

Alexander Gonzales I don’t get it though? He’s interviewed Joel McHale also and he’s asked about Community to him. I think Larry King is a fan but the way he projects himself is really poor. Like I don’t know anything about this show - so why did he interview Danny in the first place?
@michaelhall54295 жыл бұрын
Larry is like 113 and he interviews everyone the same way. Don't worry, he is a little curt, but I think a lot of how it comes across is the edit and Larry's efficiency.

I don’t watch Larry King much, but his interviewing was very awkward here. It may just be his style but it really didn’t work well with this interview. I think Danny’s quick expression to the camera at 15:55 sums up the feeling pretty well
@ftuT4 жыл бұрын
What a weird interviewer he is, changing subject so abruptly, seeming kind of bored or tired of the interview. I get he's old, but come on. Has he always been like that? It almost feels like a job interview.
@ahmedrizk3004 жыл бұрын
It's an older interview style; we still have it where I'm from. People (and by extent, the interviewer), do not care about life stories and long answers for most questions, but they do want lots and lots of questions for lots of answers on different topics to know their opinions on stuff, relate to them, etcetra. As such, as an interviewer in that style, you're not really waiting for the interviewee to finish every response, you just want to pay attention to every possible topic you can squeeze out of the person you're interviewing, and they're expect to give quick and concise answer to each and every question. The Larry King episode is also cut in various parts, so it does not feel coherent.
@EskoBomb4 жыл бұрын
@@ahmedrizk300 I had a sense that you are spot on and that was the case. Anytime I've seen a Larry King interview it definitely felt like a "keep em on the phone" kind of conversation so I kind of expected it to be like that. Mr. Pudi rolled with it quite well in spite of the old man blue collar say what you think old guard response of "that's weird" and other insensitivities. Pull no punches, right? Lol Pudi being from Chicago which he described as blue collar probably was absolutely prepared for it. (I know little about Chicago) King is a man doing what he does, basking in his own glories and in control of his show. He just gonna be him.

after watching a couple of these it's hard for me to decide who I like more, Larry King or James Lipschitz. They both have this love connection with their interview subjects while also being very disconnected at the same time and it makes for great interviews from both guys. I would love to see an episode of Larry King Now with James on it and an episode of Inside The Actor's Studio with Larry on it. I think those two episodes would be the most unique for their respective series.
