Everything he said about democracy, and how people use democracy to Dismantle democracy, and how we have the beginnings of dictatorship etc., are 100% right. Eg, when people start to discredit the press, and say that it's the Enemy of the People, etc., And that words are important and that they can be like viruses... He's so on it. He's very switched on,

Great interview- very good mix of serious issues and hollywood. I love how Larry King extended his show to Edgar. I love to see these types behaviours of extending a hand to others in the workplace. Make everyone grow.

Edgar is more than just another pretty face, as the saying goes. There's definitely more to him then what the eyes behold ( there's more to a book than it's cover ), he's well versed and says what's on his mind. I've been a fan since the movie Domino, not sure what he did in America prior to that, pertaining to his acting career and I haven't seen everything that he was in since then but I take the opportunity to watch his work when I have the access to it. Too bad that he never was able to get to interview Larry King like he hoped. Edgar is such a humanitarian, he cares about people and the right and wrong of society.

What remains unsaid about his latin heritage, which he perceives as an asset, and not an obstacle, is the fact that he is a white latin person, not even ambiguously white, but fair skinned and blue eyed.
@bigums214 жыл бұрын
I felt the same way when he said that
@Nazaba094 жыл бұрын
As a light skinned Latina, I would disagree. you don’t see enough Latinos that look like him and I. When people find out I’m half Mexican/half Costa Rican, their minds are blown. They always say ‘but you’re so white!’ Or ‘I thought you were middle eastern’ (which edgar played in ‘girl on the train’) he is ambiguously white everywhere except Hollywood. They still thinks Latinos look like Yalitzia Aparicio or even América Ferrera, so good for him if he thinks it’s an asset but I’m not seeing it yet, and I’m a video editor/screenwriter.
@vodkatonyq3 жыл бұрын
@@Nazaba09 Ramirez doesn't get 'non-white' roles because he's ambiguously white, but because of his latin heritage, which is construed by American culture as non-white.
@FannyPlusvi3 жыл бұрын
But when he opens his mouth he is totally latin. Latins can be black, white, indian or a mix of everything. That's the good part of it. The Caribbean if full of black people, the Andes and Central America has lots of indians. Are there are also countries with lots of white people, like Argentina. But they all have latin culture.
@vodkatonyq3 жыл бұрын
@@FannyPlusvi Well, when he opens his mouth in this interview he speaks English with a non-anglosaxon accent. Most Americans consider latins to be at least of one race and that is non-white. They don't link them with classical roman European culture but something else entirely which is non-white, non-European and non-Western.

Bravo Edgar. You made it! One in a million makes it and you did boy! How? Only you know it. What about playing Chavez? Studying the character and you being such a great actor would be the greatest challenge of your career. Play the monster that literally killed your people as he really was, and may be in a film with a happy ending in which justice was eventually made. After all, it would be only Hollywood fiction but at least many Venezuelan will finally find comfort on the screen...or what about playing Oscar Perez...?

Edgar Ramirez is a son of wealthy parents - a Solicitor (lawyer) and Military Officer, so he doesn't obviously appreciate the good work Hugo Chávez did. I've been watching these spoilt and selfish people on the brilliant Irish made, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, and they are the worst rabble I've watched.
