I think I never saw such a vibrant neighbourhood in my entire life. People seem so nice, children everywhere actually playing together in the rain. So much greenery, everywhere you look there are plants, trees, flowers and there are so luxurious. I swear, wealthiest countries’ cities such as, in my case, french cities are so boring. Too much order, zero creativity, almost no greenery or just boring alignment trees or shrubs. What I saw here was an adventure, a discovery and real scenes of life with real people. It contrasts so much with western cities where you always see people walking mindlessly from a point A to a point B with headphones on and always scrolling on their phone, avoiding as much any social interaction that could potentially come their way. Anyway, really great video and amazing people.

@Zero_Cool_ Жыл бұрын
You must not have stayed their long. I lived there about 10 years and have been to over 75 countries and I can say with certainty, they are the most dishonest people as a whole culture that you will ever meet. They are very good at lying, and they do it gently and kindly. They will lie about tiny things and huge things. They will tell you they are near when you ask how far they are from your house as they come over, but they not near at all, they just want to say what you want to hear and theyll apologize later because thats what theyre used to doing, lying and apologizing. Lying is such a big issue in the country, I started questioning reality like 3-4 years into living there because in business, in relationships, in friendships and colleagues outside of work, they all lie about everything and I got so sick and tired of it. Even taxi drivers will lie to you especially if you have an accent or youre white, theyll say the taxi meter is broken so they must charge a flat rate of p600 or p700 when the meter would run you about p150-200 only. Theyll happily steal from you and smile while they do it. They have the worst gossiping issue too. Their word for it is chismosa. Theyre all nasty chismosas that spread lies and manipulate each other. You probably visited there for a month or two, not much longer. Otherwise, the novelty of their fake smiles would wear off and you could see behind the facade. They smile and act happy to cover up their pain, which is understandable, but you cant say with any level of truthfulness and accuracy that Filipinos are honest. Friendly? Yes, because they want your money, but honest? The exact opposite. Worst place Ive ever been in the world as far as being lied to constantly by everyone and being told by many people its just part of the culture. Cheating is also a rampant issue and I classify that under lying and dishonesty. Its completely understood and mostly accepted all over the Philippines that the local guys are going to sleep with tons of girls and the girl needs to stay at home and clean and cook. Thats how the traditional Filipino family works. The man goes to work, gets drunk, goes and sings karaoke with girls till late in the morning, and comes home whenever he wants, and the wife has to accept it because there is no divorce there. You can only get an annulment and thats far beyond the budget of most Filipinos, so the women just have to accept the infidelities. This is widespread, nothing Ive said is just from my experience, I promise you that. Ive been to more than 25 provinces in the Philippines as my family owns a travel agency that does a lot of business out there so weve been all over the place and even with different dialects spoken, the same attitudes and lying and cheating occurs. Luzon, Cebu and Davao all the same. You were probably also only in Manila and tourist resorts, because theres problems with kidnapping for ransom of foreigners there. You dont hear about that in other countries, but in the Philippines, anywhere in the southern region is a complete no-go zone for tourists unless you have close trusted family or friends that live down there that can guide you through every step of the way from when to travel, when to be out, where to go, what to wear, how to speak, how loud to speak, etc. Completely not safe. In fact, theres a reason tourism is so bad in the Philippines compared to all of its neighbors like Thailand, China, Japan, Malsysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong. PH has the worst tourist rate of any of those countries due to corruption, crime and the manipulations and lies tourists have to deal with on a daily basis. Youll be harassed the moment you exit NAIA airport. People will try to lie to you and say there is no taxi queue upstairs, and that you should get in their flat-rate van for some ridiculous price thats probably twice the price of the meter taxi, maybe even more than that. They dont even give you 5 minutes to take a breath, youre already gonna be scammed and lied to at the airport before you even leave. And then when you try to leave the country, the airport staff will sneak ammunition into your luggage and arrest you for some parting cash tips.

I really do miss The Philippines. I meet a lot of Filipinos here in the US that tell me they have no desire at all to return. I can’t help but wonder why they wouldn’t want to return to such a happy place.

One thing you will always notice is how happy Filipinos are even in the barrio living with hardship (I've been there several times). Unlike us Americans. Says a lot about our society and culture.

That’s because in America we have it easier than they do

When there, noticed the kids had as much freedom as we did back in the 60s, 70s. Not really adult supervised. American kids now have it pretty rough. Almost kept on a damn leash. More decent culture there in PI.

The girls in the village are so pretty and so shy and above all so feminine. Kids are happily playing in the rain. Smiles and laughter everywhere. You will never find this in big cities. Perhaps the lack of internet service is a contributing factor in the outdoor activities of these kids. Reminds me of pre-internet and mobile phone, laptops and computers ( we were long before this revolution ) when me and my friends ( my friends and I ) did similar things. Playing in the rain was certainly so much fun and even drinking rain water which was CLEAN at that time. Do not do it now - you'll be swallowing mud. The good old days.

It would be nice to be able to go into any country and experience people … peacefully. Unfortunately that just isn’t possible. However this place looks to be very friendly. Awesome
