Lucy is the ultimate panacea for our times. In this troubled world and these troubled times, Lucy is our bridge over the troubled waters before us. This need for humanity is as evident now as it was when Simon and Garfunkel first penned this iconic song 50 years ago. Vocally Lucy surpasses even her own lofty standards, emotionally, she reaches out and touches our hearts and minds. This is vocal perfection of the highest possible order. Thank you so much for your reaction and support of Lucy.

This will never ever top SOHYANGS LIVE yes fully live performance of this classic EVER, I've seen and heard a million Lucy thomas's, no personality, no charisma, she has a hell of a lot to learn, I've never seen her on stage with a band or an orchestra, it's always karaoke tracks, she's not the best looking girl in the world neither 🇬🇧.
@ChrisScott0 Жыл бұрын
@@steveheckle8847 Sohyang is a good and established singer. Her version of this song was just recently compared to Lucy’s version and Simon & Garfunkel on another channel. You should debate this there, as that is an interesting debate. Sohyang version of this song to me and to many wasn’t good. But personal taste. But you are correct Lucy is young and will learn and can only get better, so keep watching Lucy because she is already now becoming one of the greats. Steve you have a couple of points, maybe to you and some others Lucy is boring, but for many and I (we) much prefer a song without crap or fuss. You prefer added character, personality, and subtitles which is fine if you like that. I prefer a crystal clear voice with clean vocals and a good song with flowing tune, so I love Lucy and to me she has charisma with emotion. That doesn’t mean I only listen to Lucy. We can listen many singers or not, so no need to pull down a young girl and fellow countryman. 🇬🇧 Attraction and looks is in the eyes of the beholder the same as ears for the singer. I don’t fancy Harry Styles or Susan Boyle, but they still have a good voice. Lucy is from Wigan and worked her way up for several years and yes from karaoke and backing tracks. Which is credit to her, achieving what she has from nothing on a shoe string budget with hard dedication. I admire her for it. The same with Lucy’s amateur videos. Remember also you are talking about Lucy when a 13 year old school girl - at school and during Covid restrictions. Think about that! 🤔 Do you know how much musicians or an orchestra cost, or even a concert hall!? School girls don’t earn much and aren’t normally allowed in pubs and clubs. If you took proper time to check out Lucy you will find Lucy singing live on stage, plus with basic musicians. Probably you know Lucy is the star of the forthcoming West End musical 'Rosie'. Listen ‘Broken Dreams’. 👍 Plus Lucy has recently performed several exclusive concerts. Sohyang is good and nobody is saying swap, but up to you Steve, it’s you that’s missing out! 🇬🇧

@@steveheckle8847 In my opinion the music industry went down the toilet a long time ago, as I’m not into Adele style soulful type music. To me that’s boring. I’m from New Wave and Hard Rock and Pop genres. Actually there is little difference between a pub singer and Whitney Houston etc. There are very many good singers and they have to sing live every week without Auto-Tune etc. As you know Lucy and Sohyang and Morissette are as good if not better than Whitney, just they sing in the shadows. It’s mostly down to marketing and how they get promoted. Plus the big budget, and their contacts. Plus of course the original songs they can get or write, but some with support get a break. Maybe Lucy will make it or maybe not, but I’m happy to support the local girl that’s trying. In any case no reason to pull the girl down, she is a nice person to all accounts. Lucy needs our support to develop further. I supported ‘Vanilla Ninja’ (Lenna Kuurmaa) for 20 years and still do. Haha They are unknown in the West but I’ve loved their music and they’ve given me 20 years of happy enjoyment, so I’ll stick with Lucy if she keeps trying and deserves support. I like Lucy’s style and vocals, and I love many of her songs (not all) both covers and originals and she can adapt to sing anything. Maybe next month she’ll release original pop or rock songs which are more popular, and become big overnight. Presently Lucy is working on the musical and that’s her chosen path. ‘Broken Dreams’ is an amazing song from it, but won’t excite the teenagers. Anyway who cares, so best to be nice and kind. 🙂

Today, Lucy Thomas and her incredible Voice is Recognized around the World. Lucy doesn't copy music, she Improves it.... How do you make a great song better ??? Let Lucy Perform it in typical Lucy Thomas gusto. She owns every song she performs and soon, we forget who or when the original was created. I have never heard any singer with as much dynamic range as Lucy Thomas. Regardless where she starts on the scale, Lucy never runs out of breath, pitch, or vibrato. Her word pronunciation is so clear, we never have to wonder what she just said. When I was 19, I was a performer too. I sang this same song a cappella live on stage. I was pretty good. But, I never achieved Lucy's level of perfection. She touches our eyes, ears, and hearts. She takes us to higher places we could only dream about before. Just when we think Lucy can't possibly get better, she proves us all wrong. Her full throttle crescendo at 12:30 and stunning vocal runs both ways up/down scale leaves us wanting more. Let there be zero doubt... Lucy Thomas has Amazing Talent and she is not afraid to use it. She never relies on gimmicks... what you see and hear is real. Lucy Thomas has 'Arrived'...

Chris, thanks for the reaction! Yes, she is right there with the stars you mentioned, and probably is a notch above, just with her flawless vocals, which are already world-class as you and others have noticed! Her version of 'mainstream' is "Rosie", where she will be known across the Globe, if she tours with "Rosie"! Otherwise, her niche or genre will ALWAYS be classics and older songs; even her musical performances from "Rosie" have that same feel! She relates to the incredible talent of music from decades ago and she has this uncanny ability to understand and interpret the songwriter's original intent, meaning, emotion, and passion behind the music and then relay this to her listeners where she takes us all on a journey into musical bliss with that powerful energy she emits, just incredible passion in everything she does!

Lucy's pronunciations are as epic as her perfect pitch. When I was performing, the vocal coach would spend time teaching how to pronounce 'watuhhh' for example. It was a soft r that rolled off tongue but never past lips, it is swallowed, but sounds completely natural. I love experiencing Lucy and her incredible repartee of vocals that work for her. She even saves plenty for the last crescendo and we are not disappointed. Lucy's long holds make me want to take a breath for her. Her lungs and diaphragm are in peak shape and never comes close to over straining. She must sing in her sleep, or she has figured out how to get more than 24 hours a day.

I’ve lived through musical vicissitudes so experienced many singers and genres. Over the years there has truly been great songs and albums, not necessarily due to great singers but great artists. But mostly due to the song and lyrics and music. Then we’ve had the legend greats as both you and your wife, and I too idol. Comparisons are made, which is already testament that Lucy is a great herself if so closely compared. Strip down to just the voice and singing and compare, and Lucy out sings all. Possibly S&G’s version had more musical instruments and depth but S&G had a huge budget, but just comparing the singing Lucy is better. But as you’ve stated it’s not only Simon & Garfunkel, but so many more. To have a singer out sing Whitney Houston or Celine Dion is gold but to out sing both!! Plus out sing 20 other legend greats. As a whole in what Lucy covers, she’s probably the best female singer. Or if not the best then within the top 5 female singers waiting in the shadows.

Hi Chris. Music does define different periods of our lives.ie it reminds us of things that happened at a certain time n place. I’m sorry for your tough period but seeing you tear up a little sort of is a nice touch because it reminds you of that relationship that’s so special. It shows us how compassionate n how genuine you are n that you must be a beautiful person. Never apologise for tears over someone you love. . You can always blame Lucy’s song choice haha. I honestly believe the only way we mere mortals will understand how Lucy improves is by her choosing more n more songs that other females won’t do because of how difficult they maybe. I feel sorry for people like yourself who do these reviews!- simply because you must run out of superlatives when describing how PERFECT LUCY IS. Let’s agree that the word perfect is relative to the song, who’s singing it and how it’s better than anyone else who has sung it. Is that how we define LUCY 🤔. TBH, I’m GOBSMACKED 😮? Good luck in describing LUCY in the future because it’s only going to get harder n harder or you simply state SHE IS THE BEST ! Thanks again for your review 👌👏🙏🏻

Elvis has always done my favorite live version of this, but she is absolutely killing it. But one thing, now that I've watched a handful of reactions, is the preoccupation with looking into the camera. My introduction to her was Hallelujah about 3 years ago and I've seen that thing 8 billion times. And sure, she shows humility and a trace of shyness but I personally do not for one second think that the way that she does or doesn't look into the camera and what she does with her eyes, even when she's not singing, isn't incredible artistry. Very intentional. She's masterful at it. Just like you don't start a song off with the climax in a full belt and the most powerful bits, you save it up. You release it little bit by little bit, and so it actually has more impact later.
