As usual a fantastic video, I loved the added movement/animations to the build/designing process, and again was very satisfying to see it all come together. But that turntable build was SO COOL! Genuinely blown away! Also the vinyl cutting is great too, you’re a real life cricket cutting machine

Honestly I'm glad you took time to figure out how to design Percy. The outcome was worth the wait! I do think it would've been fun if you added Percy's cross face to swap out with his happy one, but that's a small nitpick of mine. Solid model regardless!
@LarrysLego6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad it was worth the wait. I did design another face for Percy to swap out with the happy one (as can be seen towards the end), and this was the first of my models where I did that :)

According to the Thomas Wiki, the smokebox support was part of Percy’s brass model made for Thomas and the Magic Railroad in 1999, so this would be a LEGO version of Percy’s perspex/plastic model from 1984. It was originally painted green, but changes to black later in the movie lol

2:40 in season 2 percy, duck, boco, and henry share the same green and the paint they used was darker in person then on camera but in season 3 parcy, duck, and henry got a different shade of green, and they never changed boco's color past season 2 so using normal green would be accurate for percy for season 1 and 2, using bright lego green is still accurate for percy for seasons 6 -12 but you would need to add the smokebox support. I hope this helps for future builds.

Hey how about after Gordon you made Henry! He is basically a Gordon but with a different cab window, boiler with the square (or if you want to make him his old shape which is Gordon with different cab window and different smoke box) and Henry is a 4-6-0 and Gordon a 4-6-2, without the back wheels he also has a different front part of the running board (or of you want to make the old shape more like the RWS one that has the front down part of Gordon) and his tender is different and another thing: in the trackmaster Henry’s tender has a place that resembles where the water goes. So basically Henry is Gordon but having more then just one difference

Hey larry, another great custom for the collection. Just wanted to suggest something that might help with your vinyl problems. Theres a brand of machines called Cricut that can be used to cut vinyls. They're very easy to use and come in a variety of sizes. For your mini models, id recommend the Cricut Joy as its the smallest printer in the line and the easiest to run the program with. I use Cricut for my custom transformers and i think it would be perfect for your models.

As a "conventional" (I say it quotes because my builds aren't that conventional) 8w train builder, Percy was also a pain for me lol... First time I tried building him was in 6w, but I didn't like how he looked. I was content with his 7w build for a while until I started to notice how fat his saddle looked. I had made all of the other choochoos into 8w at a certain point (minus edward and toby), so I got to work-but I couldn't get his chassis down. So I figured, hey, why not base it off the 7w chassis and build him in 8w? And he turned out extremely well. Still proud of my 8w green goblin.

Hi there, Larry I literally saw your video of how you make Percy and that was really good. I really good design on that one, but I was wondering if you can try to make Oliver the great Western engine you know try to make a bit more design on him and work on that And also once you do that make sure to say the file and then work on Gordon while you’re at it, make sure it’s finished by the end of the day and then once you finish Gordon you’ll go back to your other files and work on Oliver. I’m hoping you can do that. Just make sure to take your time. Don’t pace yourself, take nice and slow and make sure to look through all of the parts details

I believe that the smoke box support only appeared after his brass model You see , the original Thomas models were made out of plastic or prespex I think for the first 5 seasons . In 2000 with the release of Thomas and the magic railroad Thomas and Percy where rebuilt with brass . This is when that smoke box support appeared. In one shot at tidmouth sheds you can see percy having the green part under his smoke box support unpainted. So that was probably an early shot. After thsi some other engines gained brass models but mostly stayed the same . I’m not sure if it was in season 6,7 or 8 but one of those three , the rest of the main cast gained brass models
