I was thinking the opposite. Wanya is singing his guts out, and Michael comes in at 3:13 and gets the biggest pop of the night for TALKING. Watch a couple other live performances of this song from that era, it's always the same. The place goes nuts when Michael comes on. I can only imagine what Wanya is thinking during those moments. He did all these crazy notes. No reaction. Michael says (not sings) "Girl..." and the roof blows off the place.

It's not just a boy band, though without a doubt and sure. They steered the industry and contributed to the budget of 100 billion USD in the entertainment sector. They taught groups of many groups without using an instrument or based on a single lead soloist. Putting it apart from bands that were perhaps in the '70s, they caught up with the era when the traditional music industry of the USA was meeting on the Internet. The biggest reason they were still in the sector was that they managed the wind like the gale of the 90s.
