Good crew. Moving snow like that takes good planning, the right equipment (well maintained), and most importantly skilled operators and drivers. And of course good planning to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Lived in Montreal in my early years. Miss it. This is proper clean up. Good job.
@jonathanlanglois27422 жыл бұрын
Really? Geez, Sherbrooke does that same job twice as fast, and mind you, they don't even bother spreading and breaking appart the snow pile like you see early in this video. The dump trucks can barely keep up with the snow blower. They just chew it up at full height, full width in a single pass (easily as wide as a car and about 4 foot tall on average by the time they clean it up). When they are done, there's almost nothing left at all. There's usually enough pavement exposed in my street that even in January, unless it is -30 outside, it will warm up sufficiently from the sun to fully melt off the residual snow cover in the driving lane. Montreal has the right equipment for the job, but it just feels like they need to work on their methods. Having that grader just walking behind the snow blower is stupid. It could be so much more useful doing other cleanup jobs around the sector and then coming back only after the snow blower is done. Sherbrooke does not keep its equipment just burning gas like that waiting for another machine to finish its job.

Cory, Great video catch. I like the front end loader with the snow blade w the moveable wings. I see some of the dump trucks w plexiglass right hand doors. Nice idea to allow the driver to see the wing , in a one man plow.👍👍👍

I live in western Michigan so we know about snow. It's still surprising to me that those 6 wheel drive road graders are spinning and slipping to break the snow loose from the roads. The snow blower to semi coordination reminds me of corn harvest here as you want all the snow in the truck not on the cars across the street or back on the road, and you want to fill them as full as possible as well. Great teamwork there!

What they mostly did was removing fresh snow coat over a 4 weeks ice slap. Cars are compacting it, and temperature made it full solid. That week we had a good -30'C too.

During the 30's Arthur Sicard had just seen a grain thresher at work in a wheat field and began to wonder if a similar device could be used to clear snow and thus the snowblower was born.

Operation location adjacent to Parc Thomas Chapais on Rue de Grosbois near the corner of Blvd. Pierre Bernard in the Montreal district east of Autoroute 25. Efficient work using two passes by the blowers, reminiscent of what the South West contractor used to do in NDG and CdN back in the 1980s.
