I bought this exact projector 10 years ago. It worked for almost 8 years no issues used almost every night for my son who has issues sleeping. Unfortunately during moving it was placed onto a counter and fell. Broke the glass and unfortunately the projector didnt show as well anymore 😭 as long as it is taken care of properly there shouldn't be an issue. 🤷‍♀️ at least not for 8 or so years. I'm purchasing another for my son and watched you video to see the upgrades that have been made in 12 years! Ty! Excited to get my son one again.

Wow 8 years!! You did well! Our one is currently around the 5year mark but it’s still working pretty well! The blue nebular has started to fade however the stars are still great! I want to buy another one however and do a UPDATED review as the two I did for it are far too long winded and show more of my face than the actual device! Great work man. My FAVORITE thing, concerning these, is that u KEEP up the calm, honest reviews...i think u do a great job. [ it's the obnoxious folks who seem to "wannabee" famous & get obnoxious -their vids r not worth watching.] SO yours are professorial & short & to the point, relaxed, well done. *NOTE to everyone reading*-- currently this IS one of the *best* laser-projectors and none can project accurate star patters as of yet, it's too expensive to have a "planetarium" accuracy in home equipment.

Thanks for the review. How much of the ceiling does it project on? I know the answer depends on distance between the projector and the ceiling, but for a typical sized bedroom, how large is the projected area? Also, is the star map an actual map? Or are these "fake" stars? I mean, will I see Rigel, Betelgeuse, etc?

+DJ Autumn You should be able to still see the stars ok, in my other video I show how it looks in a bright room (with a lot of daylight coming in) and it is still, just about noticeable! However the darker the room the better the effect! Hopefully you'll see what I mean in the other vid! :-) Again let me know your thoughts or if you have any other questions! :-)

I have the original and it has some major flaws one is they use a hot lamp for the cloud effect and thus a fan is used but this fan starts making really loud noise and ruins the effect they need to replace it with a bright blue led and no fan. Also there are a few super bright stars at the center. How i dealt with all this was to use a black marker and dimmed those too bright stars at the center then I put the projector in an adjacent room from where i watch movies at night but can still see it this way i get the starry sky effect without the horrendous fan noise. Also I put mine on a timer so that it goes off for 4 hrs a night so that i can see it from my bedroom too as fall asleep and it goes off after i nod off.

great review mate! u do waffle on a bit but I guess u were just trying to give as much detail as possible which I appreciate. I don't see why certain people are leaving negative comments, after all they aren't the ones who have taken the time to purchase and review the product. I'm definitely considering buying one now for my daughter(3yrs old) one question though...how far away from the wall does it have to be. also is it better in a larger room, like what's the range before it starts to blurring etc??

Unfortunately there isn't a way to disable the automatic timer (without taking it to bits and having a mooch around inside of course)! but still that is a very good idea! Because our baby was up so much through the night we just kept turning off then back on again so each time would start a fresh 4hour cycle! Thankyou for watching and commenting btw! SLOOM0 Hi there, thankyou for watching, unfortunately unless you can find someone out there who has done a video/review of the star theater pro or home star extra then its a gamble you will have to take! Being honest this Laser Starlight is quite cool. Its not exactly a planetarium though (just to warn you) as its just green lasers free floating around a gas looking blue light. But the kids love it and it is very relaxing and extremely cool! For the price its good though. My only advice is to be weary of the really cheap looking planetariums/star projectors as they must be cheap for a reason! Sorry I couldnt be more helpful. Everyone who has purchased this (and commented below) seems to love it though and sometimes it goes on offer so keep an eye out and you may pick it up at a bargain price too!! :-) Thankyou for watching once again! :-)

So I'm not sure if this will work or not but I have a power timer essentially it just plugs into the wall and you plug your device into it. I have it for a night light for my dog but if you set it to turn off every 3 hours or so and back on. Right after then it might overcome the auto shut off. Just see if unplugging and replugging solves the issue then the timer will do the trick. It's like. $5... Hope this helps

Thanks heaps for the review. It looks amazing.... I think i'm going to have to get one. The 4 hour sleep mode seems a bit long though and I couldn't expect that it would be the best for the longevity of the unit, especially after reading many other reviews regarding laser burn out etc... which seems to be one of the major draw backs of the unit. I was wondering when the unit does power down or go into sleep mode does it keep the fan running for a short time after to cool the unit, like a lite-pro, or does it simply just shut the unit straight off. The reason I ask is I was wondering if i could use a mains timer to shut it off after one or two hours? Obviously I couldn't do this if the fans needed to keep running for a short time after the lasers turn off. Anyway thanks again for your great review.

Hi there, many thanks for watching and MANY apologies for the late reply. Unfortunately the fan does not stay on when the power goes off. The whole thing shuts down completely. But the good news is that Yes you could use a mains adapter/timer to just have it turn off after your desired time - nice idea!! Apologies again for the late reply! Im quite concerned about the laser burning out, we have had ours just coming up to 6 months now and so far its been fine! But ill be the first to post if it does decide to die on us!

As for the nebula that is actually blue but unfortunately my camera picked it up as a very different colour! Tbh although I really like this, its more of a soothing nightlight than a star projector. It has green dots that float around as well as a blue light in the centre that looks like a "nebula" It doesnt resemble any real constellations etc unfortunately. Does look cool though! Hi there, to be honest if you search on google you should find a few similar items but unfortunately because they use lasers they don't come cheap! I found a similar Laser Starlight thing but it was well over $300! A lot of money especially when you don't know exactly what you are getting! I've seen a few KZbin vids where people make there own laser devices, quite cheaply too so have a little look there too! Sorry I couldn't be more help tho! Don't forget you could look for an actual planetarium device as well! They look quite cool!

hi, i used to have one of these back in 2008. got destroyed back in Hurricane Sandy... I wanted to order one, but I'm seeing that the life of the bulb is typically 2-3 months from reviewers and is non-replaceable. is this true for the 2015 model?

Kam Tam2728 Not on this one I’m afraid, however please note the camera does pick the “blue” nebular up as “purple” for some reason. From what I know though it is only available in blue with green stars! Hope that helps! 👌

Hi Ian! Many thanks for watching! Indeed you are spot on about the noise, it was on my check list during the video but I forgot to mention it!! Anyhow it does make a very slight hum. But it is barely noticeable! Imagine a tiny, tiny fan, softly spinning around, I suppose that is the best way to describe it. (If that makes sense)! But our baby is the lightest sleeper ever! (Even walking past his room on tip toes would wake him) but we left this on in his room and the noise didn't even bother him! Hope that helps! :-) I did try and send you over a video recording of the noise via google+ but it appears to have epically failed! :-(

@@mcphoney no, it is still quite loud. I covered the sides with a blanket, so it kind of solved the problem. From the information that I've got googling, this issue happens to some new models of the projector since their quality is lower than in models produced few years ago

ILANI Gutted, so sorry to hear that. Can you contact where you bought it from? Technically it should be under some kind of guarantee or warranty. I know it’s a pain but give them a try, I think it’s wrong that you are having problems with it after only a month!

Im afraid not sorry! :-( The only things you can do is adjust the brighness of the blue nebular, as well as choose whether to have the stars or nebular on there own or both on at the same time. Hope that helps. 👍

I’m afraid not, this projects just random moving laser dots that look like stars....except they are green! Ha ha! It is nice though just a tad expensive for what it really is! 👌 Hope that helps!

Khalid Alghamdi Hi there, I’m afraid it doesn’t actually say. However if you did get one and it had a UK plug on it then you should be able to buy a socket/travel adaptor and use it for 220v. (UK - whatever country you are in plug adapter) Hope that helps!

Hi Kolja, to be honest its still working as we speak! My son got it when he was 1 and hes now nearly five, So its done quite well! The blue nebula doesnt work quite so well but the green laser stars are fine! Hope that helps!

Der RaEuBeR Oh dear, that isn’t good! Have you spoke to the place/shop where you got it from? If it is already making loud noises after only minor use then you should be entitled to either a swap for a working one or even a refund! It’s not like these are cheap so I would expect them to last a fair amount of time! If you want to try and get it fixed then maybe an electrical shop maybe able to diagnose the problem? But to be honest I’d be getting in touch with where I got it from if it’s still quite new! Sorry I couldn’t be more help!! Let me know how you get on!
