I want to use inkscape to transfer an object that has an inner and outer line. With a knife you would cut somewhere in the middleof the line. But a cutter does not understand... so i want to amke that line as thin as possible and theb import it into silhouette cutter software, so it can give me a single cutting line. How can indo that??.

The way I'd go about doing this is to bring in the picture (I'm imagining it's a jpeg or the like) and you want to do the 'trace bitmap' operation. This will trace the picture and you will have 2 sets of lines. If you then use the 'break apart' command (ctrl+shift+K) it will break the paths into their own objects. Delete the lines you don't want. Then if you don't like exactly where the line is you can use the inset/outset command to get the line where you want it. (google how to set the inset/outset distance it's convoluted) Then combine your lines back together if you choose and you can export svg or dxf or whatever your other software likes. Hope that helps

Ok for people who don't need any instruction. Way to fast to understand. Basically a useless video for beginners and experienced people who can understand it simply don't need it.

@@lloydphillips9724 he explains and shows each step. Really helped me. You can use the cog menu to slow it down, or watch some parts several times to see it in detail. What specific thing are you trying to do that this video didn't help with? I'm really not experienced, but maybe I can help.

@@ktisistoukuriou I got it now but not from your tutorial. It was how did you get the outline, How did you get the tool path. That's where I left your video and found one that explained it instead of saying go to outline then go to tool path so fast by replaying it wasn't slow enough to see. Did you look at the other comments also saying it was too fast for a tut? It is a good tutorial, but not for a beginner and by saying that there are many on you tube that is superior to yours for a beginner.

@@lloydphillips9724 glad you found it. This isn't my video, by the way just one I found helpful.

"No objects to convert to path" is all I get. Followed these instructions to the letter (literally, same font too..), as well as several other tutorials. Did they break something in version 1.0?
@Evezor4 жыл бұрын
I can't say for sure. I do know they have changed a dew things regarding paths in version 1.0 but I can't imagine they would have changed this function too much. When you look at everything in outline mode does it appear correct? It's something I'll have to look into in the future. Sorry

Hi, great tutorial! I wanted to ask you if I can, at minute 1.14 when you give "ok" I do everything right, but I don't see the path of the nodes around the letter "E". Do I make any mistakes or have I deactivated some function? Thank you very much.
@Evezor5 жыл бұрын
There could be a couple reasons. The first is that you may have missed *object to path* that makes it so the outside of the letter is acutally a path. Text looks like a path but it is not until you use object to path. The second is maybe you are working on a different layer? Best advice would be to try something that is made out of lines and you know for sure, try those and then figure out what's not working. Best

I’m using a neje Ortur laser. I use Inkscape to prep my files. But the files don’t work when I save them as either .nc or .dxf can you help me out?
@Evezor4 жыл бұрын
I don't know anything about that laser and inkscape doesn't natively export files for lasers so there may need to be some work in post at any rate. Good luck

Cool. How do I know if my 3d printer can do this? It's a crappy one lol. I have an M3d micro. I know I can manually print with Gcode but I never can actually see the laser so I don't know if it would work.
@Evezor7 жыл бұрын
I cannot speak directly for your machine in particular, but first Always use proper safety equipment. Second you can just plug in the laser to the port that turns on and off the hotend (make sure you end up with correct current and voltages). The rest is just GCODE, turn on the laser when you want eg.[M104 S200] and laser off [M104 S0]. Good luck!

Could you speed it up a bit, christ, could you blow through this any faster?

No offense but if youre dont a "tutorial" it might help to not speed talk.
@samterian76947 жыл бұрын
maybe you should trace back and find out why it does not save in my files
@Evezor7 жыл бұрын
sam terian In the preferences tab when you are using the "Path to Gcode" function there is a text box you will fill in with the name you want your for your file "Example.gcode" In the text box below there is a box called directory. This is where you call out the folder, where you wish for the file to be saved. "C:\" with out quotes will put it in the top level of your main drive. "C:\Users\YOURNAME\Desktop" with YOURNAME being your usename on the machine will save the file on your desktop. Hope that helps
