HEY Men The car is starting to turn the corner. When I was in the trade this was the best part. Getting the body back to a straight finish and then primer time. I see you still need to lead wipe and weld the front on. Please show this in upcoming episodes. Well done Darryl and Mick keep up the good work. This car has had so much work when I go back and watch the episodes. I really like how the repairs are all carried out in the right process. I knew straight away when you boys left the screens in the doors you knew about the door frames. I like to watch guys with the skill and knowledge. The tricks to the trade these Torana doors are not easy to fit. Makes me laugh when guys try to say the glass is left in the door hahaha silly cats. This Car is going to look unreal. The best part it will all fit up and work like a treat. 👌👌✌👍👍

G’day guys. I really hope you will show this car right through to completion. At least painted and polished. I’m completely visually invested in this project, so I’d hate for it to go off somewhere and never be seen again, having only the panel beating done. You’re doing the most superb job I’ve ever seen. Cheers. Brisbane.

Thanks for sharing some of your history Daryl. This type of finishing is a forgotten art and is lovely to see. I was lucky being taught by one of the best. Learning to finish this way. Before I had ever used body filler. And I am so greatful for that.

Hey Darryl and Mick, amazing as always. Just check with Torana guru’s, on the rear quarter to the left of where Darryl was at 42.30 and right where he was at the end at 49.00. Most Coupes have a depression about the size of a tennis ball on the C pillar behind the body line. Lots of rebuilds fill this treating it as a dent, but it looks wrong when you know. Mine had a new quarter installed in the ‘70’s (dog of a repair) and was filled and the other quarter retained the dish. When repairing my car, even the replacement panel had the dish so once I took out about a cm of filler, both sides matched. I’m not 100% certain - maybe the Torana forum or someone more in the know can say, but I think it was also a little different depending on which plant the body was produced in. Definitely things like the boot and engine bay paints were different from one plant (state) to the next. And I think there was even differences to how things like spare wheel brackets were installed in the boot from plant to plant and model to model.

Was going to say the same thing when I was watching him beat it out it’s factory and the Torana nerds will notice when it’s not there

Great work guys love the team action. Would love to hear more in depth things on how you dolly the metal, placement of tools etc. For the worm rust i get the little sand blast gun out and spot blast them. To make sure its got all of it out of the pitting you get at times. Saves materials i think. Can't wait for next episode 🤙👊

@alanjones99 your spot on with the blaster we actually ended up doing it as the rust was just to deep. Thanks for watching and comment we appreciate it.

I continue to be in awe and have huge respect watching the high standards of this work. The way that rear quarter bottom is merged in is quite amazing. And as a bonus we get to see that purple Charger in the background.

Hey Pops, I can really relate to what you said about your history. Like many, I too have sold cars as marriage, family and mortgages have meant that there wasn’t the budget to spend on cars. Now that I am in my 50s I have owned my dream car (1955 Chevy 2dr sedan) for about 10 years. I’ll always be a car guy and enjoy doing as much of the work as I can possibly do on my own car. A happy ending is always a good thing. Keep up the good work. Always a pleasure to see.

How things change in 40 years or so. I remember when you could buy Torana, Falcon Hardtop or Valiant Charger for around 1500$. Now they're a second mortgage for a poverty pack base model!. I owned a few, if only I had Nostradamus thinking, I'd be a wealthy man. Irrespective, I appreciate now our home grown manufacturing from Ford, Chrysler and Holden. I'm a Fordy by heart, but I's be proud to have any of the big three from back in the day. Love the work you blokes do to bring back our classics and automotive history.

G'day gents. A new subscriber here and absolutely loving the LJ build series. Feel like I'm a part of it 🤣. Your fab and welding work has set me new goals. Quick question - in your restoration experience which auto rubber kits have you guys had the most success and good fitment with? I need a quality set for my build. Keep the content coming gents 👍 cheers and thanks.

I wonder why others on KZbin are anti sandblast but you guys just blasted the front guard. Is it because you DIY rather than send it out to others?
@adamsonautobody
@adamsonautobody 3 ай бұрын
We always blast every car if we can @peterhargrave2246 its the best way to remove all the rust. It comes down to the owner of the car and what they want done. Mick will actually blast the bonnet in next episode.As sanding couldn't remove the fine rust.Thanks for watching @peterhargrave2246
