SDDS brings me back! I used to go to the Sony Cheri theaters in Boston a lot, and of course they had to use the official Sony format. There was a lot of talk about porting SDDS over LaserDisc in some fashion, but it never materialized. Panasonic DVD brings me back too! My first player was a 2nd gen A120U and that thing was a total workhorse. Great times!

@@Culturedog I use to go to United Artist theater it was a 10 screen theater with DTS SDDS and Ultra Stereo use as Dolb stereo I use to get to go up stairs because I knew the manage he would let me see movies for fee and I would tell him how the sound and picture was working many times it would be 2 or 3 rear speakes not working or the sub would be out. I remember he hated SDDS because it would cause so many drop out and it would go back and forth from SDDS to Dolby stereo a lot they ended up getting rid of it and going with Dolby Digital and it was never as good after that because the tec did something and they couldn't turn the volume up too loud anymore with out if cliping they allso changed out the speakers from JBL to Klipsch and I have to say the Klipsch sounded much better for some reason even though at that time they were almost the same well the Jbl's were a lot older must have just been better quality amps and speakers. But that is the theater that thought me about surround sound and I also went to Campo a lot and they showed me laserdisc I used to beg my mom for a laserdisc player and they was like there is no way we can pay $1,000 for one and she got me a hifi Vhs and Pioneer Proligic Reciver then DVD came out a few years later by that time I had the $650 saved up for my Panasonic A300 it was just the best times then it was time to get a reciver with 5.1 inputs I was a crazy kid to think of it now.

Went with my 2 best friends. We were totally sucked into the hype. I started welling up during the intro.. it wasn't until months later when I watched the vhs and I was like.. this movie isn't that rewatchable. But the hype leading up to menace was amazing. They were spending a fourtune back then on advertising on lots of movies and even then the promo for menace was next level.

Yeah, that hype train was going full speed! Toys and ads everywhere. We had news teams camped out at all the cinemas and everything. Wild times!

I was expecting Haller to be a prequel apologist for some reason lol. Glad I was wrong.

His rating is still too high though lol

Haha yeah, I thought he was going to rank it a little higher too. And Hayden was a wild card. Thought he might run out in a Jar-Jar mask giving it a 9.5!

Watch Heavy Star Wars Episode 1. Deep Purple's Highway Star playing during the Pod Race sequence. You'll never go back to watching this version after you've seen it.

I am a fan this movie, yes theres goofy and stupid stuff and some bad dialog but I love it (and no I'm not joking). Then again, I'm younger (I'm in my early 20s). Oddly as a kid I found it boring but like it now, and am a huge prequel defender. I grew up with these so Im biased. The sequels are OK. However this was still fun to hear from a different side of the coin and love the podcast!

I do dig the podrace and the sound design is perfection. However, I do agree with Sam that those pods are jalopies all the way.
