This song epitomizes Alice Cooper. He was my first crush as a kid. I remember being in the backseat of my parents car, passing theaters featuring his movie “ Welcome to my Nightmare”, but I was too young to go. Fast forward to 1990? something? whilst living in London I met the man at Tower Records in Piccadilly Circus. I’m showing my age, but I don’t care. I still love him so. And I feel so strong.

Listening to all this early Alice Cooper music just permeated in my mindset and totally altered my thinking on life and things in general. I wouldn't say that it warped my mind but it opened my eyes to another reality of life. And that was only listening to the records and not actually seeing The band in concert. After seeing Alice Cooper and the various incarnations of his band throughout the years performing live I dig the music and the theatrics but I still consider the listening of the music and songs the better experience of this particular band. I really appreciate the depth of Alice Cooper and his music.

I've loved the original Coop's music since being introduced to it as a 13 year old in '73. But by '75 or 76 I had thoroughly outgrown the theatrics and imagery that became plain formulaic (particularly after Shep sabotaged the band who by '74 were already sick of the costume BS) and never grew up along with me. In fact, I felt embarrassed for Cooper. But the music was always great, and it still is. This track is masterfully arranged and adapted from Kemp's original.

Alice has great following in Britain. There was a football match in '73 between Brighton and Portsmouth, lots of fighting. The Portsmouth fans came dressed as Alice, top hats, mascara, clothes, jewellery, the whole Detroit look. Trashed Brighton then they stormed along the seafront. Featured on the TV news film that evening.......

BACK IN THE DAY, or ONCE UPON A TIME...THE 70s...half the fun of a new album by your favorite rocker was.. The artwork of the album cover, and ALICE was king of the over-the -top album sleeves. LOVE IT TO DEATH was called a gatefold cover, it opened up to twice its length and there was this STARTLING high contrast photo of the Alice eyes with the makeup...SCHOOLS OUT was a masterpiece of comic art.. A school desk that you assembled by perforations on the cardboard, the top lifted up like a desk, and the album had...are ya ready...a pair of lacy panties stretched over the album...BILLION DOLLAR BABIES opened up like a green snakeskin wallet and had a giant billion dollar bill on it (with Alice's face on it....this of course instantly got put on our walls)....MUSCLE OF LOVE was in a flat cardboard shipping box...FROM THE INSIDE opened to reveal the asylum Alice was singing of on the concept thread of the songs., Alice's face an eerie shade of Wicked Witch of the West green (BTW, remember the song MILLIE AND BILLIE from that album....comically dark, or darkly comic?).. NOBODY EVEN COMES CLOSE TO THIS TODAY...A NEW ALICE ALBUM WAS AN EVENT.....AND STILL is!!!!

@@hjs1378 There were some other.great album cover artists from.the 70's.. FTR, Jeff Wayne's WAR OF THE WORLDS the double album set with its amazing illustrated book was unforgettable ....still being performed almost 50 years later, with a couple of new editions that have been released, along with numerous remixes).. .so much fun..
