It's closed alpha, reliant on word of mouth, and invite-only. The fact that it's getting 10k while in the earliest stages of game development AND being reliant on invites and players is more impressive than anything else lmfao. When it fully releases, and Valve actually starts marketing the game, and people can just pick it up then play without complications? Jesus christ the playercount is gonna skyrocket.

I think its fine, like anusauk said its alpha and theres no dedicated competative, no marketing, no FOMO hyper monetized elements like season passes, no strong lore or PVE, and relativley new community lacking in varied and dedicated creators i think it makes sense for now, i wouldnt be suprised if things pick up once they bring it up to the level of CS or TF2 with ingame economies and multiple modes and such. It would be very suprising if Valve somehow manages to fumble this completely with all of the talent and resources at thier disposal.
