I got LASIK done in August 2014 when my power was minus 8 on both eyes and almost four years since then, it has been an awesome vision experience. Had little bit of discomfort due to dryness of eyes for the first 5-6 months after the procedure. But after that it became awesome fine and perfect. I used to wear specs since the age of 9 years and got LASIK done at the age of 24, and a couple of weeks following surgery I could see a completely new world from my eyes.

I also have -8 in my one eye and -6.50 in other. I've consulted with doctor about lasik but he said that You have very high power and lasik can completely remove specs if your power were -5.5. So if you performed lasik then your power will be reduced to -1 or -2. Means You also have to wear the specs of power -1.5 after lasik. Now I'm in confusion because your power was also -8 then how your specs get completely removed. Please give me your valuable response.

As such no specific age for the LASIK but it preferable if you do after age of 25 years. At this age your eyesight will be much more stable and there will be no change in number. Once its stable then you can go for it. One more thing LASIK is costly. so if your number is continuously changing and you do LASIK then might be you will have some number after few days of the surgery. LASIK will not correct your vision 100%, it may be more than 98.90% if eyesight is too weak or heavy number. After 40s there is possibility of + number. While surgery some of the nerves may damage which carries waters to keep your eyes moisturized and lubricant then You feel dryness of your eyes. So afdter surgery keep lubricant eye drop always with you.

i did lassik on 2012 @ dehradun, first i went through through counselling by experts which type of lassik will it be to be performed 4 varients was available. ..and it all depends on the blade to be used to cut d flap of eye ...less deep cut more expensive is d procedure...it cost me 53000 including medicines, 80000 was the cost of lassik at dat time in which eyes were being operated due to laser light without contacting eye ..it means it was without touching eye and only wd laser vision is corected ... well i want to tell u all my vision was -2.5 n -3 ...which was being corrected and now my vision for both d eye is 6/6 till date ...earlier i developed problem of double vision but using eye drops recommended by my doctor now its stable ...thums up for lassik ...

unsuccesful lasik means that some power is still left after the surgery...which rarely happens to 1% patient but there is nothing to worry since you can undergo laser enhancement procedure which is done for free by most of the leading hospitals

I also underwent LASIK surgery a few years back. The greater the power of the lens one is wearing, the greater is the amount of irritation and burning sensation in the eyes post surgery. I know this since I had number 10 power glasses on both eyes for 17 years prior to surgery. All the best! :)

Gaurav Jagdale In your case it might not happen to that extent as it happened to me but doctor will ask you to remain indoors or a dark room for 2-3 days since you won't be able to take in bright light. Almost a week of shades is also on the list - Those Black Ones!
