If you bought this fan from Costco be sure you have pliers, vice grips are best because you will need them. One pipe that was needed was not connected as the illustration implies. It’s in two pieces and putting the pieces together was not easy. All together there are three pipes. One fits in the base easily. The extension pipe was the problem. The illustration was not what I discovered. And the video lady had the extension pipe connected ready to slip into the base. Forget about it. I’m a senior citizen and I wrestled with that pipe for and hour, using my vice grips to bend and force it into place. Finally after aggravating my arthritic right hand I successfully assembled the fan. I’m very happy I had the strength and energy to get it done!!!

The part that the fan connects to the pole will not tighten. If I have on high the whole unit rotates.

So the dog chewed the power cord on the Lasko pedestal fan and it wouldn't work, so I spliced the cord back together - it didn't work. I called the 800 number and ask if there is a fuse somewhere in the unit - no fuse. But it has a "safety cord", with an inbuilt, non-repairable fuse in the plug itself. I ask if replacing the plug would fix it and she says you have to buy a new fan (an expected response). I then replace the plug and it works again - this is a poorly engineered safety feature, as any break in the cord hypothetically dooms the entire appliance. Even the cheap Chinese Christmas lights have little replaceable fuses in their plugs. If the cord is damaged and it won't work - replace the plug.

Hows it hold up? Im debating on pedestal or tower style fan for my room. i have a tower fan for last 2-3 years but kind of dying and thinking going back to pedestal fan as i had an old one that last 10 years and only got rid of it since the tower fan was gift from parents.

how could you be so foolish....you never should wear shoes when assembling a fan. It is so basic they don't even include it in the instructions! It is just assumed.

not happy the bottom pipe will not fit snug properly in my base. either that or it's just made piss poorly, because i cannot tighten or loosen the nut enough without having to hold onto the bottom pipe to counter that. and then if i do that i have risk of the entire head sliding down on top of me because i'm having to hold the bottom pipe while unscrewing the nut to adjust the height. the fan head also does not snap into my pipe when i twist it. it just sits there. it feels like my entire fan is wobbly now and nothing is secure. Not pleased. i'll exchange it for the same model at home depot and see what happens.

It will not really snap. It runs up against a screw that holds it in place. Now the screw does not "screw in" the plastic shaft runs parrell to the screw in the slot.
