I miss the old box fans. In my garage I'm still using my mom's old K-Mart branded box fan from the 70's. It weighs about 20 lbs, is twice as thick is modern box fans and is very powerful. It still works just fine and its weight and size mean it doesn't need flimsy plastic feet to keep it from blowing over like a leaf.

Purchased this Lasko Power Plus fan more than 3 years ago, has ran 24/7-365, extremely pleased with it's performance & finally.....sturdy legs that don't break after 6 months. There's several Lasko fans/heaters in our home, a sound choice for heating/air movement. 💯
@torythefanman6 жыл бұрын
I had one of these for awhile. It was ten times better than the cheapie Lasko box fans. I mean its no vintage fan. but its better than allot of the cheaper box fans on the market. Wouldn't hurt to take the motor appart and oil it.
@JordanU6 жыл бұрын
I agree, it does seem to be a good step up from the 3733 model.. If it doesn't free up from a few days of use, I probably will oil it..
@Xyspade6 жыл бұрын
I've looked at now 2 modern fans post-2014 that came out of the assembly line with basically zero lubrication. If I obtain a modern fan, I now oil it before I even turn it on for the first time. I would do this too if you plan on using it for a few years to come.

I don't know if you've noticed, but the corners on this Power Plus box fan are less rounded than the 3733. It's shaped quite like the older Pre-2000s Lasko and Galaxy box fans.

I have an older (circa 2012) version of this fan that I use on my laundry drying rack. I also had a "bog standard" Lasko box fan from the same year that I do recall comparing it to, and at the time it seemed like the "Power Plus" fan did move more air. Not much, but enough to be noticeable. That's why I decided to use it for my laundry drying rack. I also noticed that on high, it has a slightly lower pitch sound than the plain fan. My guess would be it uses blades that have a slightly steeper angle, thus producing the same or slightly more airflow at lower RPMs, but not having that old standard Lasko around anymore I can't really verify that. Mine didn't come with the "heavy duty" feet though, it just has the standard feet. It has the same design of switch though, which I think is kinda meh. It can be hard to get a good grip on the switch, especially with damp hands from handling wet laundry.
@JordanU4 жыл бұрын
You are correct about the blade, it's a steeper pitch and constructed of much sturdier plastic compared to the baseline model. I'm not too fond of the switch either.
@OniRokaku3 жыл бұрын
Hey, ever since I saw your vid on this fan. I legit wanted one myself. Went to Home Depot and got it. Using it as we speak, this thing is alot better than the original box fans Lasko had been updating since the 3733. It's giving out more air and for a small apartment, it's getting the room cooled quickly. Thanks again for the review of it. I love my new fan :)
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
The quality doesn't seem to be a whole lot better than the 3733 model, but I do agree that it moves quite a bit more air and is certainly worth the few extra dollars for the increased performance.

Feet are a bit deceiving in my opinion. While the actual feet part are a little wider, they do still appear to be of 3D-printed construction quality, and the clips are no different than the 3733 which means they'll most likely break and then not stay in place right. Still has the nonrepl fuse plug and the pretty loud low speed to start off with, as well as seemingly the same length cord. Blade looks to be a teeny bit thicker, but it's still the leaf petalblade of course, which basically means that this is a 15-inch fan in a 20-inch housing, if that. For $8 more, I like the colors a little better...
@JordanU6 жыл бұрын
They're probably still not as sturdy as they should be, but time will tell.. The blade however does have a noticeable increase in pitch and doesn't seem to just fold under any resistance like the 3733 does.. The plug does bother me immensely, there's no beating around the bush there.. I'd prefer a slower low speed, but this is a bigger fan, it's mean to stir up a breeze.. For $8 more I think this is a much better choice..

Non-detergent 3-in-1 or Zoom Spout work well. The guards and blade must be removed, the the 4 screws that hold the motor together must be removed to access the rear bearing. The front bearing can be accessed with just removal of the front guard and blades.
