Timmy is determined to raise a piglet into a champion hog, but the piglet keeps escaping its pen until one day it falls into a catch basin. When Timmy rescues it, he ends up trapped in the basin as it begins to fill with water.TRIVIA: The baby piglet used in this episode was a Hampshire pig. The Hampshire breed of hogs may well be one of the oldest original early American swine breeds in existence today. Historical records indicate that Hampshires probably originated from the "Old English Breed" - a black hog with a white band extending down the forelegs - which was quite numerous in Scotland and the English border counties bordering Scotland. These hogs were noted for their large size and good tempered attitude, and admired for their hardy vigor, foraging ability and outstanding carcass. The Hampshire came to America between 1825 and 1835 and became one of the favorite breeds, especially for Kentucky farmers who used to let their swine roam rather than keep them penned. In 1893 the first record association was formed and the name Hampshire Swine Registry was adopted in 1939. The marketability of these breed is excellent - Hogs reach a market weight of about 240 pounds at 5 to 6 months of age. It is claimed that the famous Smithfield Ham company originally only used Hampshire hogs.
