Lassie - Episode

While Ranger Cory is visiting a local town on assignment, Lassie finds a doggy friend at the local store. When the little dog gets trapped in a commercial truck that ends up parked at a meat market, Lassie follows to find a way to free her friend, meanwhile escaping from the clutches of the local dog catcher.
TRIVIA: James William Flavin, Jr. (born Portland, Maine 1906 -1976) who played the grocer, Joe Dawson, in this Lassie episode, was an American character actor whose 50 year acting career started when he was asked to fill in at a Portland summer stock theater for an indisposed actor. His success in that role lead to a contract, and his desire to pursue life on the stage. By 1929 Flavin had begun to work his way across the country in stock productions and tours, arriving in Los Angeles around 1932 where he quickly made the transition to movies by landing his first, and only, lead role in his very first film, "The Airmail Mystery" (1932). Although he appeared in almost four hundred films between 1932 and 1971, including "King Kong", "Yankee Doodle Dandy" starring Jimmy Cagney, Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood", and "Anchors Away" with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra, as well as almost one hundred television series episodes, he was cast only in supporting roles. His final appearance was as President Dwight D. Eisenhower in "Francis Gary Powers: The True Story of the U-2 Spy Incident" (1976).
