Lassie - Episode #63 - "The Haircut" - Season 2, Ep. 37 - (5/20/1956)

A delightful, comedic episode that is rich in the classic old Vaudeville type acting for all of the main characters - Gramps, Ellen, Jeff, Porky, and Lassie. In this episode Ellen volunteers both Jeff and Gramps to take part in a cousin's wedding, much to the horror of both Jeff and Gramps who both claim to be too busy with other things to attend. The two guys do their best to wiggle out of the "confounded predicament", while Ellen does her best to trick them into compliance. It makes for a wonderful episode, especially when Lassie hides all the hair cutting implements including a set of hedge shears! Ellen putting an empty salad bowl on Gramp's head so she could cut his hair evenly was also classic Vaudeville. In every way a delightful episode, one that I'm sure went a long way towards making the early Lassie series such a great family hit.
