Lassie - Episode

When Ruth gets a flat tire during a shortcut route to a Grange dinner, she accidentally steps in a jaw trap set for a local mountain lion. The best part of the episode is when she sends Lassie to get a C-clamp, and Lassie returns with what looks to be a hacksaw but Ruth identifies as a cheese cutter and instructs our smart girl Lassie to go back home and get the correct tool. Of course, our remarkable collie gets it right the second time!
NOTE: While TV tends to play fast and loose with reality, here they really do stretch it. Those deadly jawed clamp "bear traps" were designed to snap shut with enough force to break the leg of any creature unfortunate enough to stumble onto the trap. Had this been real life, Ruth's leg would have been broken at the point of impact and the pain and shock would have probably rendered her unconscious, not just snuggled into her coat looking exasperated at her captive "condition". The scene with the gun was also pretty revealing as shotguns have a kickback when fired. Watching the scene in slow motion was rather interesting to see that June Lockhart closes her eyes during one shot, but keeps them open for the other shot.
