It's really interesting that a couple of reunions on this show between, Timmy and Andrew, (Jon and Roddney), and Ruth and Timmy (Jon and June), and now Jeff and Timmy (Tommy and Jon). It's wonderful that; these reunions they are now working with the 7th Generation Lassie dog (The Old Man) who played Lassie. Past dogs Pal, Lassie Jr, Baby, Spook, Mier, Hey Hey and previous owner and trainer Rudd Weatherwax RIP... and Bob is carrying on the torch with Lassie dogs 7th-9th generation dogs The Old Man 1989 Howard 1994 and Laddie 1997.

I always felt that Jan Clayton who was the first mom on the TV series was truly the best and June Lockhart was wonderful too. There was such a warmness to them and Dee Wallace has it too, she is great. Cloris Leachman I felt was very badly miscast as Timmy's mom because she did not have any of the same qualities as the other moms did. I always suspected that the reason wny Leachman was cast was only because she looked a little bit like Jan Clayton.

Unfortunately, this wasn't very well written, along with the Roots episode. In terms of the canon, it makes no sense. Timmy adopted? It makes no sense that the Martins would have taken care of Timmy for years, to not make sure he was legally adopted. Lassie was passed on to Cully and then Corey. Why? How did they get a hold of any descendants of the Timmy era lassie if this lassie is in the same bloodline? If Timmy remained in the US, and this Lassie follows the same line, he would have had to gotten hold of one. And then Ruth serves a court order to claim some sort of ownership of Lassie, 20-25 years after giving up the dog? Come on. They could have easily made a canon reference to the Timmy and Jeff era without tangling it up in logical inconsistencies.

Stop trying to tie up imaginary strands. It was explained in an earlier episode. It was all about linking Jon Provost with both series. Roddy Mcdowall appeared in one episode, having also been in the original film.. Take this for.whar it was. Quality family entertainment with a good moral.ethic.

The episode with June Lockhart was why this show was canceled. Viewers called in and complained that there was no way the Martin's would leave the country and not take their son

does anyone know why Jeff gave Lassie to timmy in the fourth season?
@leopoldstotch64410 ай бұрын
This is from memory, but I think it was because the actor George Cleveland (who played Jeff's grandpa) died, and it was decided to end the series on the premise that Grandpa had died (again, this is from old memories). Jeff and his mom made plans to move to the city (perhaps they sold Gramp's farm after his death), and they gave Lassie to the Martins, the new family who was taking over their farm.

Sappy music, boring, tedious scripts and horrendous acting. This series does the whole Lassie franchise a terrible disservice! The only good thing about it is the dog!
@sheikowi5 жыл бұрын
Hate to diss, but this was the first of this new series I watched. Poorly written and cast. Possibly appropriate for L.A., but not for romantics. Even the interesting idea of reuniting Jeff & Timmy was wasted on this episode. Jeff's Lassie trumps!
