Tell Mrs. Canuck not to be upset about the crab. I was on your guys’ cruise and the tour guide we had in Skagway on the Y&WP Railroad said that Dungeness crab hasn’t been caught in like 4 years or something. So if you had it, it likely wasnt local, which means it likely wasn’t fresh.

Nice views of Creek Street and the river. Mr. Canuck doesn’t like seafood or steaks? What does he eat, just meatloaf, hamburgers, sausage McMuffins, chicken, and chips??? Love Carole’s laugh in the background! Chocolate profiteroles, though-so good! Ridiculous that their entertainment venues are so small for the number of passengers.

Mr Canuck also likes tons of vegetables. He could easily (and has) go a whole cruise or months without meat.

Hey guys! Great to see Ketchikan through your eyes - this was one of my favourite ports on my Alaskan cruise last year on Discovery Princess. We got the full day in port, but only had a half day to 2 other ports - relatively annoying. I've never heard of people tendering in the morning and then docking later - how unusual!
@CruisingCanucks Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Our day at Ketchikan regarding getting on and off was very strange. We were happy that we didn't have a plan excursion because a lot of people spent most of their day waiting for a tender. 🚢

Spa footage was funny & really liked opening music! Just got off a Virgin Voyages Mediterranean cruise and their Scarlet Night was fabulous. A lot of "sailors" wore red and there were different events throughout the ship. They also had fun photo booths and a huge show/party up on the pool deck where everyone could participate. HAL's Orange Party pales in comparison...
@twilalebold320 Жыл бұрын
Interestingly, I was on the East Coast Cruise while you were on your West Coast Cruise. Our Holland America ship is the baby size of the fleet. They held the orange party in the Crow's nest; there is no music walk on this ship. Prior to the party they held a game show in the Crow's nest that we were participating in. So, we had established our location well before Orange party time. Truly, it was a fun celebration! Everybody was up dancing and rocking. Sorry about your experience!

That is a great question that we have discussed ever since experiencing Rudi’s. If Mr. Canuck was a seafood lover than the answer is definitely yes. Where we pause in the debate is what it would cost for him to have a chicken dish and no appetizer. Maybe if its Jill’s birthday!

I had to lookup the menu and double check that price for the crab. It truely was a single red king crab leg. for that price. Looks like tracys was a bit cheaper but wow. I don't remember exactly what price I paid for the crab back in 2010 when I was working on the ship, but I know it was less then $100. I swear it was at least 50%-75% less

We sailed on MSC Poesia from Fort Lauderdale to Bahamas and Bermuda a few years back and it was excellent. What was hilarious was that there was one massive line up in the Buffet, only to find out it was for Hotdogs and Hamburgers, 99 percent were American cruisers. As Canadians, we enjoy Pheasant Under Glass, Duck A l'orange and other exotic dishes, no line ups.

You’ve convinced me to try Rudi’s. I’m not a seafood person either but will be traveling with my parents and an Aunt who adore it and I think they will love the splurge. We have some OBC that we have to use anyway so might as well. And I paused on the menu and saw they have escargot, steak tartare and foie gras so not all seafood as mentioned for the appetizers.
@CruisingCanucks Жыл бұрын
Hope you enjoy. Thanks for mentioning the non-seafood appetizers. We should have said that there weren't any apps that Mr.Canuck liked. 🦞
@sherryillk Жыл бұрын
@@CruisingCanucks Yeah, I noticed the non-seafood apps are a bit adventurous. Foie gras is probably the least but there's all the ethical reasons to avoid that too. It's a bit wild where snails end up being the most approachable, for me at least. The raw beef might be it for other people but I have an irrational fear of mad cow and medium rare is about as far as I can go with beef...

No wonder you said on your livestream that you hated this cruise. You never did anything that makes Alaska so special! No whale watching, Glacier exploring, flight seeing, etc. You treated it like a Caribbean cruise and focused on the ship rather than the destination. Alaska is all about the destination, not just going ashore and doing some shopping like in the Caribbean. Sorry but…you blew it! Such a waste of your time and money. So sad.
@CruisingCanucks Жыл бұрын
We never at any point said we hated this cruise (go back and watch the live.) Our only negative and reason we weren't rushing back it because the scenery was so familiar to what we know travelling around Canada. We had a wonderful time at all ports (as shown by each video) and we had a great time with new and old friends alike. The ship was nearly identical to others we were on - so it was the only constant and not the focus. We had booked whale watching - but HAL cancelled it, but we have done whale watching off the coast of Newfoundland before. How everyone chooses to approach each cruise and port is their own choice and we did enjoy the ship (which we did ACTUALLY say in the LIVE show you referenced).
@petshopgirl396 ай бұрын
@@CruisingCanucks On the subject of whale watching, I've done whale watching off the coast Perth, Australia and also off the coast of Vancouver, up towards Bowen Island, which was amazing - saw 11 humpback whales, some with their calves. We're back in Vancouver in September to visit our daughter who lives there (we're from the UK) and then sailing with HAL to Alaska. We have not booked any whalewatching excursions on the cruise at all - for 2 reasons: 1. We're going to do a family whale watching trip in Vancouver again (which is much cheaper than Alaska excursions) and 2. there seem to many opportunities to spot whales from the ship itself. My husband doesn't like riding in helicopters or float/ sea planes so we are doing a guided hike excursion at the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau and the White Pass railway and Yukon excursion in Skagway. We've got the Lumberjack show in Ketchikan which looks great fun. We may not be doing the more dramatic excursions, but we're pretty happy with our excursion choices. It also keeps us within budget, particularly as we went all out with a veranda stateroom to enjoy the scenery, especially Glacier Bay.
