um, Aldenham's second opening bowler was definitely chucking it.

I can understand why Billy Bunter was so upset at 21:48, it was indeed remiss of the umpire not to raise the sun a few degrees to improve the light.

3:57 I wonder if one can bring one's own choice of sofa. A delightful opportunity for self expression. Perhaps Sanderstead CC could instigate such a match occasion. With entry fees for charity and prizes based on comfort ,utility and sheer silliness.

A bit of a shambles. I knew there would be problems when early in the second innings Dan mentioned the sun setting behind the bowler's arm. Surely they need to start a bit earlier?

When I played for Aldridge I scored for an Under 17s game one evening. By the time the match was in its dying moments it was very dark, and the outcome depended on a shot that none of the fielders saw. It didn't go for four but they (Aldridge) were running hither and thither looking for the ball as the batsmen ran the winning runs.

Sounds suitably village!

Jack Bond the Lancashire captain in the golden era of one day cricket died earlier this month. He led the Lancashire team in that remarkable match, televised live by the BBC, when David Hughes smote the ball to win against Gloucester in virtual darkness. Not quite history repeating itself... We all know what incident will be the subject of endless scrutiny and conjecture. Best to move, no one has ever mentioned England's 3rd goal in final tie of 1966, have they?

The Bovingdon opener's innings reminded me of a typical Shareef example; wonderful stroke-making but you'd have liked it to have lasted longer than it did.

Great video as always, nice to see village cricket getting the recognition it deserves! I do have to ask, what is the concept of a “shoe”?
@jamesgolbey80115 жыл бұрын
I have no idea what you mean? Where is this "shoe" discussed?
@SandersteadCCTV5 жыл бұрын
A “shoe” is a fine for a dropped catch where the dropper has to drink a pint from his shoe! Derivation: Southampton University (but probably elsewhere too)

I'd argue that he broke the stumps without the ball so even though one bail remained, he should've taken a stump out the ground?
@SandersteadCCTV5 жыл бұрын
Akarn we had an incident like this earlier in the season and the laws allow for a single bail to still constitute an unbroken wicket- so the ump got it right here. Whether by luck or knowledge, who knows!
@Wilberforce535 жыл бұрын
Oh really? I’ve genuinely never known the rules, but now I do. Entertainment and knowledge! Cheers bud!
@jamesgolbey80115 жыл бұрын
This happened somewhere recently (been watching so much cricket I can't remember where). The ball knocked off the off bail but not the other and the batsman was given not out.
@MrHistorian1235 жыл бұрын
Law 29.2 applies. "If one bail is off, it shall be sufficient for the purpose of putting the wicket down to remove the remaining bail or to strike or pull any of the three stumps out of the ground, in any of the ways stated in 29.1." So he was legally out.
