I read 35 books in 2023. My favorite authors were Natasha Pulley abd Jojo Moyes. I read a few classics I'd never read before like Far from the Madding Crowd, Lady Chatterley's Lover and the Tenant of Wildfell Hall. We'll see how I get on in 2024. Thank you for always recommending good reads. ❤

I haven't tried Pulley. I liked Lady Chatterley's Lover and Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Not so much Hardy though. I'm so glad you find my videos useful. 😊

Well, i do love buying books, and have also been very busy at this lately! Am getting the collection of British Library Women Writers series--- enjoying every one I've read! And some Dean Street Press, and D du Maurier, and Christie, Vita Sackville- West , and just ordered a couple Heyer books which i think im going to love, & many more 🙄. Saw your Heyer video, very helpful, fun! Those Christie editions are indeed gorgeous. Oh, a GSD, lucky you!! Great wonderful dogs ❤. Will check out more of your videos. 😊

I should have a look at the British Library Women Writer series. du Maurier is classic, I do enjoy her books. Ah my current GSD is a little monster right now, but yes they are amazing dogs. 😊

Your book haul looked good. For 2024, I am reading what is on my shelves, some nonfiction, some fiction, mysteries, by authors I have never read before-I loved Rosamunde Pilcher's Winter Solstice, but I am also enjoying Mystery in White: a Christmas Crime Story by J. Jefferson Farjeon-British Library Crime Classic, Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World for this month. Along 2024, I am hoping to read R.C. Sheriff's the Hopkins Manuscript (about the moon crashing into the earth!), I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai (mystery), London Fog: The Biography by Christine Corton, The House Next Door by Anne River Siddons (Gothic), Nine Coaches Waiting by Mary Stewart (Kindle), House at Riverton by Kate Morton, Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Stranger by Albert Camus, The Waves by Virginia Woolf and if I have time I will read a Renaissance book, History of the Vikings, History of the Anglo Saxons. I have an advanced readers copy of The Peach Seed by Anita Gail Jones and an illustrated Kalevala.

It's always good to read what we have. I think I'm still trying to make up for almost 10 years of not reading or buying many books. I've read some Siddons, Pilcher and Mary Stewart years ago but need to try some again perhaps. Happy reading!

I've been getting most of my books - especially ones by authors I haven't read - from my library. This has been for a couple of reasons. Thee first is space. I have a limited amount of space and don't need to find a place for a book that hasn't been great. Tied to that has been money - why spend $30 (US) when my reaction to the book is to find a place to get rid of it. There are some authors I find I like enough to spend money on them, after I've read them. Of course, by that time, I can often find used copies - that's great, isn't it. Happy reading!

The library is a better way to try new authors but sometimes they don't have the books you want. I'm not sure how much fantasy my local library has. Collecting books isn't for everyone, and you are right they are expensive. If you can find them 2nd hand in good condition, even better. Personally I just love being surrounded by books - and plants. 😊

An impressive set of purchases. I often fall victim to the obtaining bug. The challenge: time to read them all.

Thank you. It is easy to fall into the just buy buy buy mood, which I am guilty of, but I so enjoy having them and reading them.

I wasn’t aware of the New Hercule Poirot series. I’m definitely going to give them a try. I don’t purchase many books as my daughter is a librarian and she can get me pretty much anything I want to read. If I really love the book then I will buy myself a copy.

I believe they are the Harper Collins special editions. It would be great to have a librarian find me books I'd like to try but sometimes they just don't have what you want. Thank you for sharing.

I loved the video, thank you Kathi. I have most of Stephen King’s books in hardback. You inspired me to start hunting the ones I am missing. Have a lovely weekend ❤

Your Christie books are gorgeous! I really enjoyed the latest Osman book too. I kept hearing about Jilly Cooper on BookTube but had never heard of her before here in the US. I happened across a used copy lately but haven’t read it yet. After what you said, I’ll have to put her in the queue for 2024.

I agree about the Christie books and I do hope you try Cooper, she is hilariously funny. I always fall passionately in love or hate with her characters. 😂 Let me know how you find her.

@@NerdyKathi Thanks Kathi! I will move her up in my queue on your recommendation. Hopefully, I will get to her in February. I’m trying to stop reading so many at once. So when I finish these four, I’m going to stop that. 😂 Although one of my reads is a Miss Read Thrush Green book. So that really shouldn’t count because it’s my world softening end of the day read.

I just pulled out my Jilly Cooper. It’s called Score! and is 788 pages! Before I commit to this length is this a good one or good starting place?
@NerdyKathi
@NerdyKathi 6 ай бұрын
@gerridauer9092 I really enjoyed it but it is also part of a loosely related series with recurring characters, (The Rutshire Chronicles ). I prefer reading them in order myself. The 1st book is Riders.

@@NerdyKathi Thank you. I like to read in order as well. So maybe I will look for number one. Unless you have a better idea for a first Jilly Cooper read.

Happy new year Kathi. I didn’t keep count of how many books I bought last year. Too many I expect. Did you get the Mythical books and the Agatha Christie’s from QBD? It’s supposed to be cooler tomorrow - might do a trip to visit them. ❤

@@NerdyKathi Hi Kathi, on the back of the book we see a Hangman's knot. Hanging was the form of execution back than in England. Who send you finally to the Gallows? The Judge did. I always missed the Hints by Christie but hints are there in this book too. Even in the first chapter when Judge Waregrave is introduced.
