Love the moonstone and hope you enjoy it! What a beautiful set of books you found! Love when that happens. Sooo excited you got a copy of The Tower of London. I agree that Ainsworth's books sound "sensational." I always keep an eye out for him.

Fun to see you back! Some fantastic editions and additions to your shelves. Uncle Tom’s Cabin is heartbreaking. You have to get past the dialect she wrote in. Lorna I read 2 years ago and loved the sweeping, sagacious, quiet nature of it. Very slow.

Thanks Deea, I'm very glad to be back! If the dialect is a bit too rough, I might try an audiobook - that usually helps. Glad you enjoyed Lorna! It's not a book that I've seen many people read

If you enjoy Harrison Ainsworth's "Tower Of London" then I strongly recommend his "Old St.Paul's" which was written at about the same time and is the very definition of a "ripping yarn!"

This comment is non- book related but I just had to comment on your non-accented English. As a Canadian Anglophone who has struggled all his life to speak my countries other official language (French) your English, which if you are from the Netherlands, I assume is a second language ,is perfect.

Thank you Michael! Yes, it is a second language 🙂 To be fair, I too find French really difficult. Dutch is actually the national language closest to English, so we do have a little bit of a head start

I remember watching the Black Beauty tv show when I was a kid and enjoyed it. So last year I thought I’d read it for the first time and I hated it. It’s more of a commentary on how absolutely awful people are. I think if you have kids that like riding horses and maybe own one, then definitely make them read this and hopefully they’ll treat their animals with kindness and compassion. 😊

I had no idea, that's so interesting! I was never much of a horse girl so I don't really have any expectations
