Last Chance to Michigan Bluff on the WST

We actually rode the 28 miles from Robinson Flat to Michigan Bluff on the Western States Trail (Tevis Cup and WS100 Run). But I took helmet cam video segments of the two deep canyons. I am riding on my young horse Cody, who has never been in the canyons and is new to this sort of riding. He is 8 years old and has been on pack strings in Wyoming, ranching with cattle, and Junior Rodeo team roping. Pacing himself for the long haul and also letting the horse in front actually get out of site, and leading the other horse, are what we are working on. We ran out of daylight and ended the last 1.5 hours of this ride as an easy slow walk in pitch dark on the switchbacks up from El Dorado Creek to Michigan Bluff. He did AWESOME.

Thanks for sharing the video! That trail down into the first canyon is as gnarly as it was in 2010. And I can't believe I trotted down along the trail you showed into El Dorado Canyon. Great memory refresher.

I think you're safer from the back of your horse but I hate trails like that!
