You guys have to put what’s called a “sealer” for the pavers and that will make the pavers still look new over time and it prevents it from wearing down. It will also give the pavers a smooth and almost moisturized look.

Yup, this area has VERY hard water and that will destroy the look of those pavers, walls, anything it touches regularly, including glass showers. Even with a water softener the minerals still build up. They should be sealing all the grout indoors too, to keep it from getting that grimey look.

Robert Jensen for showers you really need to take a towel and dry it after using it. That’s what I do with my showers and I don’t t have any problems with leaving hard water stains. If you don’t it’s going to look terrible in a short amount of time.

We had the same issue with the calcium when we got pavers, they sell a special cleaning product for them, we cleaned them and then used a concrete/paver sealing product to seal the pavers and no more calcium :)

you guys should put polish on the wood flooring to make it shinier but you guys will have to get it polished every year if you do choose to put polish on. if you put polish on you will need to take the previous polish off before putting the new one on. the polish will make the floor really shiny and vibrant

We use pavers in Europe, calcium often builds up when they are initially put in, once pressure washed off it doesn’t come back in the rain. It hasn’t with our drive in London, if it did we’d be getting a pressure washer out nearly every week because it rains a lot.

For the Jack and Jill bathroom, where Leslie doesn't like the cased opening, you can hang sliding barn doors on the wall. That way you don't have to cut out a big section of wall to install a pocket door. The barn door would cover the bathroom, so it isn't just always open, and there are so many options for the barn doors. They can look like anything you want, from a rough, rustic look with bare wood, to well finished and painted or stained whatever color you want.

We have the same trim in our house in all of our rooms including living room and family room inside the trip we put leds and that looks very nice just wanted to put that out there Also we have pavers in our house and when we built the house we put some glue thing instead of sand

The sand in between the pavers is polymeric sand and it basically hardens when it comes in contact with water so the pavers don’t move. Don’t worry about pressure washing them

I have pavers to. The white thing is because of the machine that slided over the pavers and left some marks behind. It should go away. And for the sand between the pavers you will have to put new sand in between in a few years. Because while you’re driving on and of the driveway the pavers will settle down and move a little so the sand will go down and you’ll have to put new sand in it. The sand will fly away when they will do the high pressure wash because of the strength of the water. And I don’t know what the structure beneath the pavers look like but there will grow some weed between the pavers and trough the sand. It is more expensive then concrete but I think the pavers looks better with your house.

Just tips from a landscape construction foreman.....Installing a paver sealant will stop the “calcium build up”. And if they used poly sand, which looking at video they didn’t, you wouldn’t to have worried as much about sand coming out of joints.

As far as the calcium deposits on your pavers is concerned, you can have them sealed once the weather is warmer and dryer. Not only will it make the pavers look more beautiful but it will protect them as well.

For the doors in the bathroom, you should replace them with pocket doors. They save space, and can easily open and close.

Pressure wash the pavers and then put a waterproof sealer on them. It will lock everything in and you won’t get efflorescence anymore. I work with architectural concrete and we do this all the time.

To solve the bathroom problem you should get doors that slide in to the wall

Ask your landscaper about gator grout or polymeric paver grout. It hardens in the cracks and then when you power wash it. The grout or “sand” won’t wash away.

Hey Guys! Just an FYI that whitish haze on your pavers is called "efflorescence". It will continue to reappear until the calcium hydroxide has time to exhaust itself. It usually takes about a year for it to dissipate completely. Hope that helps! look-up efflorescence on the ol' googler.

My neighbor owns an asphalt company and he has stamped and colored asphalt that looks like pavers and it's held up for over 15 years now, no cracking, nothing, never seen his guys working on it or anything. They big key to this stuff lasting is how thick you make it. When you see a lot of concrete driveways cracking it's because the driveway it only like 4 inches thick, some subdivisions require driveways to be I think 6 inches minimum. My neighbor with the stamped asphalt driveway, his is a foot thick if I recall correctly. He parks everything on it from heavy work trucks to 45 foot motorhomes and the driveway is perfect.

Thoughts from an architectural major, drastic, but on your toilet placement in the jack-n-Jill, if the vanity that is next to the toilet is deeper, maybe it's deep enough to swap them? You'll have to dig up the floor but do it now before flooring goes in. You'll lose a little storage/ counter space but I think it's a fair trade to avoid something that will only bother you more and more as time goes by.
