PoE is the epitome of quantity over quality... their way of playing the game has a million useless systems, their skill tree is absolute trash cause it's insanely complicated for no reason at all since 95% of the nodes are pure passive buffs with no gameplay value, making a functioning high level build means you have to follow a guide which is BORING since we play these games to be creative... not to follow a guide like zombies... Sorry but PoE has a fuckton of issues that it's fanbois ignore because they think playing PoE makes them "hardcore" and "not plebs" but it actually makes them sad cause they play a game that they have to follow someone else's instructions to even be able to get to endgame... that's fucking sad...

While you have some points I agree with (and of course some that I don't agree with), your overuse of hyperbole (for example the items on the ground reminding you of mobile games??), extremely sarcastic tone, too much attention to unimportant details just to be pedantic in an overly negative way and the fact that you heart all comments that agree with you thus reducing any actual conversation under the video absolutely sour what could have been a normal critique review and an actually useful one at that. What you have here instead is a childlike venting that has some good points that are unfortunately barely agreeable with because of the way the whole video is presented. If you want to actually review something next time try being more constructive, focusing less on pedantic details and being less passive-aggressive in general, or just don't review games you obviously dislike too much to try and have an objective stance in the way you speak.

Diablo's skill tree is a fucking joke and there's something like 3-4 builds for every class and that's about it... and after you pay Blizzard 3 times the money you need to play Last Epoch to play an inferior game you then wonder why the next Diablo will be just as dogshit as this one when they make a fuckton of money without producing anything noteworthy or high quality...

Since you mentioned not understanding resistances, I'll explain them here. Your resists cap at 75 and every monster level up to 75 penetrates 1% (additive) of your resists, leading to level 75+ enemies penetrating all of your resists (effectively you have 0% resistance against them). This happens regardless of how much resistance you total up: even if you get 120% fire resistance, your cap is 75% and level 75+ enemies penetrate all of it. This sounds incredibly bad but it's intended to work to make resists feel less mandatory. Most Diablo-like ARPGs scale resistances exponentially, with each 1% additional max resist giving you significantly more overall damage reduction than the previous ones. For a hypothetical example, if you have 90% resistance and you go up to 91% resistance, you're actually reducing damage by 10% rather than 1% (100 damage reduced by 90% is 10, 100 reduced by 91% is 9, 10% less than 10). In games like D4 and PoE this makes resistances overwhelmingly important since each point below your maximum resistance increases the amount of damage you take far in excess of the 1% more it looks like you should take. I don't know the actual math behind Last Epoch's resists, but the way it's supposed to work, each 1% less resistance actually is 1% more damage taken, not much more than that like in most Diablo-like ARPGs. As a result of this, EHG stated that the endgame was balanced around players having effective 0% elemental resistance and that going lower, by way of having less than 75% resistance, would be far less punishing than doing so in, say, D4 or PoE, where playing endgame content below the resistance cap turns nearly all damage of that element into a one-shot. The practical upshot of this, though, is that resistances are very weak defensive investments in Last Epoch and that raw health (or ward, for classes that can generate it) is much more important. You can reach 75% resistance in most elements through implicit affixes on items and Monolith blessings and so the most optimal way to build defensively in the endgame is to ignore resistances and get as much flat health and percentage health (or Ward and Ward retention) as possible. Resistances on gear are good in the early game but a trap later on. IMO the game does a very bad job of explaining this; I got this explanation from people on the Last Epoch subreddit who actually did the math to figure things out when the system was changed a few years ago. Aside from all of this, I would also say that some attacks are just poorly balanced and deal disproportionately large or small amounts of damage. As you experienced throughout the video, there are some elemental attacks that never did significant damage to me no matter what my resistances were, and others that were extremely dangerous even when I stacked a lot of health or Ward. It's definitely possible that you could have survived some of the attacks that one-shotted you if you'd prioritized max health over resists, but it's also possible they would have killed you even if you'd built your defenses correctly. Either way the character sheet should do a better job of explaining exactly how offensive and defensive mechanics work. IMO this is true for most Diablo-like ARPGs: all the way back to D2 the character sheet was wrong more than it was right, and while modern Diablo-like ARPG UIs show a lot more information, a lot of the information they do show is poorly explained at best.

I think i was with you overall until the Elden Ring comparison. 1.) I'm unsure if ARPGs are your thing friend. Most of your complaints are an industry problem, particularly one shot mechanics and difficulty. Much of what sets Last Epoch apart from those other games were the things you highlighted positively, and a lot of the other things you complained about early were also simply things you missed. For example: you can indeed hide all loot and have a button to reveal it on the screen, the button is X. 2.) Not that I'm trying to be an apologist or anything, but EHG is a tiny studio of about 19 people. Elden Ring is amazing game developed by an absolutely massive AAA studio and, in its entirety, costs 3 times as much as Last Epoch cost. 3.) Boss ward is a mechanic they will be changing. Pre 1.1 bosses would gain DR the lower their health bar went. Players did not like that the mechanic was obscuring the actual damage that it took to kill the boss, so EHG changed it to boss ward. Players dont like this either so it will be changing again sometime. 4.) Dodge wasnt in the game on release because they didnt intend for it to be there. Players requested a dodge feature after D4 released and EHG added it. 5.) EHG is attempting to do what D3 and PoE did: create a living game that grows and changes as it goes, recieving constant updates and support through seasonal content. D4 just added an entire area, new class, and new story through their first expansion. PoE has done the same every 3 to 4 months. There are more things I wanted to bring up, but I dont feel this is the place. The game is not perfect, but no game is. If youre watching this please give it a go.
@LuketheGamerDuke11 күн бұрын
@@Beowulfgang_Amadeus Firstly thanks for watching and thanks for the response! Well, I’ve been playing ARPGs since their inception so the genre is definitely my thing. I agree there is a problem in the industry, but I’d argue the problem is the normalization and acceptance of mediocre or unfinished products. To which Blizzard plays a heavy hand in. Personally I would not consider modern Diablo franchise “par” for anything in the genre. I’d argue they’ve been destroying the genre. For the Loot Filler: I understand the ability to hide all items and toggle “X” to show them, but it still shows EVERY item that drops, nullifying the point of the filter to begin with and doesn’t fix my issue. Item text should be hidden by default, then “X” would show your filtered items. They could add another toggle to show all items. It would so easy to do. My comparison to Elden Ring was more broad-based with how an action game don’t need story to be immersive granted other aspect are fully realized, rather than a direct studio comparison. But even so, I don’t believe being a small studio nullifies criticism of quality nor my personal standards. There’s plenty of small studios that release incredible games. Even take me: I’m a small channel, but that doesn’t grant me any special privileges. My videos will be criticized just the same as a channel with 500k subs. No one cares that 50 hours of my week are auto-dedicated to a full-time job. Viewers want quality, and if I don’t deliver, I expect to be called for it. I’m glad to hear Boss Wards might be going away. That was an awful decision. However, to the point of decision making is where I remain concerned. Do I want to continue putting time into a game whose devs keep making terrible game-mechanic decisions and are slow to fix? With Dodge I go back to decision making. Dodge is great to have. But why did no one think to add it? Or even test having it? They really only added it after D4? How many other mechanics are they mimicking from Blizzard? It simply doesn’t instill confidence in the dev’s decision making moving forward. You maybe contradicted yourself with an earlier point. If EHG is such a small studio, why are even trying to fulfill Blizzard or PoE-style of long-term mechanics? If they don’t have the manpower or resources, they’re going to run into problems. Which I think is becoming evident. Not to mention they keep adding stuff to an already unfinished or shaky foundation. They should have removed half of all the content, then focus on refinement to ensure quality of product over quantity of content. PoE gets a small pass on consistent development solely because the entire game is free-to-play without being pay-to-win. And there’s mechanics in PoE I’m not a fan of, as well. Last Epoch was a purchase price, and should have included a finished product. Last Epoch isn’t a bad game. The Skills are quite entertaining and smashing around can be fun. But, from my perspective, it’s certainly not a finished, fully-realized, immersive, action role-play game. Thanks again for the comment! I always enjoy good banter.

Gameplay balance is all over the place. Let's compare Spellblade (close ranged battlemage) to Forge Guardian (minion/melee). - Spellbalde has a node called 'Defender of Welryn' (8 pts.), which gives +1 to Dexterity for each point invested. Upon 5 point investment, it will also give 8% Critical Chance per Dexterity. - Forge Guard has a node called 'Javelineer' (6 pts.) which gives you 10% Throwing Attack Critical Multiplier for each point invested. Upon 4 points invested, it will also give 1% of Throwing Crit Chance per 5 points of Dexterity. - Forge Guard has another node called ' Champions of the Forge' (8 pts.) which gives you 10% Critical Chance with 2 handed weapons for each point invested. Upon 5 points invested, it will also give 1% Critical Multiplier per 2 Strength with 2h. Obviously all classes and their subclasses work a bit differently and at least on paper are supposed to have different strengths and weaknesses, and the nodes are not 1 : 1 identical (don't have to be). But why is it that the far higher risk melee class have so much worse nodes than a safer ranged class has? Howcome ranged classes enjoy generally better defenses (most have ward), have more range to move and opportunities to stay safe from damage, and then also have 800% stronger benefits for 1/8th the investment at best. Spellblade is fine, Forge Guard is arguably one of the worst subclasses in the game to be fair. So bad is FG in fact that only in 1.1 it got its first class specific unique item (others have multiples) and even that is broken: It should only give stats from gloves but it actually gives all your gear stats -- and yet FG is still extremely weak of a class. And it isn't helped that 1.1 also made defenses matter far more, enemies do high damage (and event mobs were very tanky), and DoT and Crit can explode players in a second with no meaningful counterplay options (you die faster than human reaction ability allows). It can't also be defended by claiming FG is old class and needs a rework because both the Spellblade and FG were reworked for 1.1 and FG is still extremely bad of a subclass. Meanwhile you can take Falconer, take the worst skills and roll trough end-game no problem because it's attuning is off the roofs. Needless to say that while some things have improved over the time, the gameplay feeling of certain classes, gameplay balance and other issues have made the game worse and at least now I have no interest in playing the game until they fix the rotten core. Sad because I used to think and say that LE was better than most of its competitors. EDIT: Also an interesting way to tell if a subclass is good or not is how much passive points and active skills they borrow from universal/other subclasses. Most builds have at least something borrowed from others, but go look up FG builds and most builds use anything other than FG skills and have much more heavily invested in other subclasses. It's an indicated that FG has inherent design flaws and requires a far more thorough rework.

I’m hoping GGG has put some effort into it for PoE2 as I’m a firm believer that well written story and characters should very much be part of the action-ROLE-play-game experience. I agree LE has some great concepts, some are well done, particularly the skill-tree, but the overall experience falls very short of what I expect from an ARPG. Particularly story context, exciting and lucrative itemization, and enemy balancing. But thanks for watching!

Seems just that this game just isnt for you. I disagree with quite a bit of your conclusions as this isnt some AAA studio game with a multi- million parent company behind it. Just like PoE was very rough around the edges for years. Im sure given time this will be a great game. Im sure any of the various Diablo games are more to your liking.

Nah, even long time fans who have thousands of hours into the game have raised many of these issues up and some of the issues, like gameplay balance, have even gotten worse over time. I am sure the devs know this, and there is a ton of technical debt but they also already announced the future content so they also have to deliver on those promises. The big problem for the devs is that their competition are all well funded where they are not, so LE's development phase is sluggish due to not having that many developers. Back when PoE started, there weren't much to compete with it. D3 had slowed down in public interest and there were no giants like there are now.

@@kerythan Personally, I don’t believe being a smaller studio grants immunity to criticism, particularly when they’re selling a ‘finished’ product. I mean, I’m a small creator with a full-time job, but no one’s going to grant me a break for it, nor would I expect it. If I put out a bad video or wrong info, I expect to be eviscerated for it. If their intent is to rival PoE and stand as legit competition in the ARPG market, they better make sure their product is 1) finished, and 2) is as polished as it can be. And neither are the case here. EHG seems too ambitious for the manpower they have. And if they can’t deliver because of it, that’s a mistake on their part. I mean they could remove half the content and it’d still mostly play the same lol. PoE could get a slight caveat ONLY because the full game is free-to-play. I’m a D2R player, D4 isn’t even a Diablo game

@@LuketheGamerDuke My friend, you are either missing what I am trying to say or you do not want to understand it. 1.skills and passives The game offers 20 skills as you told us, but mechanically you need to play by making combinations like 1 movement, 1 buff and 3 damage. The skills can be used in the skill tree section for their interactions with each other, with some special items used and with idols triggering certain skills. For example, in most of the clips you shared, you use 2 main skills, erasing strike and warpath. For example, these skills can be combined with secondary buff and damage skills such as smite and volatile erasing and become the most powerful builds of the game, but you constantly reset the skills and try them with different combinations, without touching the trigger parts at all or looking combing them together, and just looked at how they work on their own and moved on 2. enemy encounter Yes, it is incredibly easy, especially the act part, because the game gives you an option to discover the game and its mechanics. It slowly prepares you for the transition to the end game part of the game, which is killing your first harbinger and farming 100 corruption and above. 3. bosses boss mechanics are very very good compared to most games (this is completely my personal opinion and I'm okay with everyone else's) and bosses are easy to learn mechanics for an ARPG game. and I completely agree with you here, we have the same opinions about ward mechanics. and again, since you have no idea how skill combinations work, you talk about using very few skills here in a ridiculous way so that you can optimize your skills so that they can be triggered again in this game, that is, different skills during that cooldown just because you used that skill it continues to deal damage to everything around you... look for smite trigger idols..... 4. gear and items ohhh boy .... you missed a lot a lot of things there without any context you just said "who wants to use an item loses life per second" yeah maybe lich builds wants it... cause they had low life protection and gain low life spell attack cast speed boost like 60% more and the item you show in second line said you gain that life as a ward which creating a life pool for low life builds and still manages to become low life you had no idea how gear works in the game..... the uniqe item you use your as a belt is a core build which for combining meteor to single target to using another skills spend MANA as i said you have no clue about that and never try to learn combining skills usage together you talking about making legendary items which the combaning uniqe and exalted items together which you carry your "WANTED tier 6-7 exalted affixes to unique item " to creating a legandary item to create an ultimate bis items for your build and you saying "its limited" 5. endgame "and again... and again... and again..." killing 8 hours long to same monsters in d2 area to find 1 good item and again and again and again..... don't be a hypocrite.... this game had an crafting mechanich so you find 1 or 2 affixes on items work for your build and craft your other affixes to fit your build you never talking about the crafting system and showcase clips your all items had forging potentiall for fully so you never try to craft an item and waitng for the bis item dropped for your build in grinding arpg game, i miss your logic here(this game not a d2 you need to learn new things) you said my sentinel never found better item to start with it... did you ever look for bases drop for you? some bases had insane amount of melee void flat damage on their implicits which gave nearly double your erasing strike damage to showing the shit item on video couple of times and ohh big suprises they found in even an npc in towns -.- all monolith bosses had many blessings, you need to do couple of time to find to good ones for your build and here we are you never mentinoed in video -you said gold is useless in this game.... game had trading faction had player to player trade action houses system which uses gold to buying items whihc drop from everywhere in game... -one of the dungeon rewards buying with gold and gave you options for which things you wanna buy with your gold..... -you don't like trading so this game had a magic find faction which gives you insane boost of dropping items 3-4lp uniqeue items make you a god in game you never mention "THIS GAME HAD A LOOT FILTER" and you simply priorities the items drop selecting which affixixs show and compare that items to yours and you can hide everything else on the screen idols inclueded!!!! you dont talking about crafting system which affect the game the most had no idea about the how combining skills are work and you show game had guide lines for everything but look like you never go and read anything there to learn if you look for game guides you learn one thing capping resist only protect you to coming portion of damage (even in game when you hower your resists its show in a tiny box) and you need armour, endurance(you hit 0 life and you dont die you know why cause of endurance you had in your chrachter) this defensive mechs also protect you getting one shots.... and make a nearly 1 hour video about how this game bad ... that is gave me a ultimate cringe and feel sad for you....

@@elyss_yb Lol well of course I didn't understand what you were trying to say, all you said was "100 hours isn't enough and you're ignorant." I would venture you didn't watch the entire video, or at least skipped parts. 1. I really didn't have any complaints about the skills or passives, aside from the limited skill bar. My entire point is the skill bar limits playstyle. And it does. As in order to use Smite I'd have to remove my movement or defense skill. Why do I need to do this? Forcing the player into using specific buffs with specific skills while forgoing others is a fail in my book. 2. This argument largely fails as most of the End Game was just as easy to blast through until I came across boss wards. 3. I stated several end game bosses can be entertaining and/or challenging until their Wards appear, which destroys the entire experience. 4. Your example of Lich gear is a perfect example of what I stated is wrong with most Uniques: most I found were incredibly build-specific. I really couldn't understand the rest, run-on sentences and all. But if the execution is as convoluted as your explanation, I want nothing to do with it. 5. Taking something I didn't use in comparison and using it as a counter is not a valid argument. Again, I really can't interpret your sentences here.. I crafted plenty. I switched out some affixes for others. I stated this. I stated I was not a crafting master and left room for further understanding. If Gold is used in online trading, great. The Magic Find faction did not produce 'god gear' in my experience. I touched on loot filter, but item text not filtered still appears. Asking the player to spend an hour customizing a loot filter so nothing appears is ridiculous. Just add a toggle. You bring up a couple valid points but honestly they are incredibly miniscule compared to everything else. The boss wards themselves is reason enough for me to uninstall. Either way, thanks for watching!
