Last Epoch: Beginner Tips for Passives & Skill Specialization

Hi, nice job explaining. When I drag a skill to the action bar that is from the passive tree, how powerful is that skill since it is not one of my 5 main skills?

Generally speaking, the 5 skills that you specialize in are going to be more powerful than regular skills without specialization. There are some instances where a skill will trigger another skill, so you will specialize in both, but only use the one that triggers the skill on your action bar. One such example is on falconer with the skill aerial assault. You can spec into it to cast umbral blades while casting, so you may also want to specialize in umbral blades for more damage. With that said, there’s no reason to have umbral blades on your action bar, since aerial assault casts it for you. Then a skill like decoy on rogue is still useful without specializing in it, as its primary objective is to take aggro from bosses and elite monsters, etc. so it works fine without any points in it.

its not allowing me to reset my skill points, its sais that i have spent 20 points in primary mastery and i cant reset the passive skill

I'd have to see the actual issue to know for sure, but you do need to keep 20 points in the base class passive tree at all times if you have any points in your mastery tree.
