Last Foam Of The Summer, Part Two: BNSF Chicago Subdivision At Night, Berwyn, IL. 8-22-09.

Here's where railfanning of Summer 2009 ended. The Metra LaVernge stop in Berwyn. Last year, my last railfanning day ended on the Chicago Subdivision as well. Taylor joined me on this late night foaming venture.

Metra 1322 accelerates after stopping at Berwyn and flies past LaVernge.

Here's Amtrak 382, the Inbound Carl Sandburg. I used to take this train back to the Chicago area from Galesburg, IL when I went to school in Monmouth.

A group of guys dressed in black toting backpacks sneak past the auto repair center, climbing the embankment up to the CN. My guess is they're waiting for a CN train to stop and graffiti.
10:00PM-
Some light units run around their stopped train, then proceed back to the engine facility.
10:12PM-
A CN land barge slowly advances over the BNSF then stops shortly after the units clear. If those guys in black were taggers, then they got what they came here for.

A CN SD70ACe and a C44-9W bring a loaded ethanol train into Hawthorne Yard. This could be the train that crashed and burned in Rockford, closing the line down.

OK - sweet video! The CN freights comming over the fly-over were out-of-the-frame GREAT. The background lights and clouds made it appear as if the moon was backlighting the train. Very, very SWEET! Nice job all the way through.

Yeah, I figured since they climbed up the embankment. I dont care if they trespass. I do it too. I don't even care if they tagged the trains. They probably didn't even go into the yard.

@DaftStrings Same for much of the St. Louis region. A bloody shame, but makes it a real treat when the engineer decides to give a quick blast of compressed air none the less for track side rail fans.

From what I know, BNSF 4801 was wrecked and scrapped at some point prior to the time this was filmed. Maybe you saw 4810 or 4901.

I know that I don't know your situtation or that of your friend, but I am sorry that you did not report those you saw trespassing. As fans, I feel that we owe the railroads our eyes when we see something that is dangerious. Hopefully they were only tagers and not something more 9-11ish.

CN Doesnt Own SD70ACe's. They're SD70M-2's. CSX, Union Pacific, KCS & BNSF Are the only Class I RailWays To Own SD70ACe's. CP has neither. Norfolk Southern & Canadian National own SD70M-2's.
