Distant thunder wake him up. After years of combat in this war he was ready, completely awake in mere moments. Standing he looked one more time on his brave companion. A horse he used as a pillow. She didn’t complain so it was fine. Scream distracted him from praying. At once he ready his immensely long sword. Some “dark knights” were still here to kill any survivors. Their army far away now. They didn’t need rest - battle ended to quickly to satisfy any bloodlust. One such party of four spotted him. They may be barbaric but not mindless. Slowly they surrounded him. He razed sword straight into clouds above. Every kill meant dozens even hundreds of lives saved. Thunder roared once more, closer this time. Circle of death closing on him. “I don’t want do die here. I will not die here!” He dashed forward his sword going more horizontal as he speeded up. As one raiders rushed their horses. He used giant sword as spear pointing on hourse’s neck. Horse lend backwards in fear but it was moving to fast now. In desperation animal throw itself to its right. He still wounded it. Barely even scratch it looking at the abnormal size of his weapon. But it’s enough to make poor animal choke on its own blood. The raider couldn’t free himself in time and coursing in his language went with his horse to ground. Weight of horse crouched his leg. Scream grow lauded when dying horse moved in pain. Eldrych found himself screaming to. His right leg burning in pain just as his enemy was brought to ground. “What kind of magic is this?!” He screamed between gritted teeth. He turned dragging his sword behind. There was no time for thinking - another raider was closing in. He once again speeded up to meat his opponent. It was barely a jog now with his leg working less and less. That raider had a spear. It did not make Eldrych hesitate. He put all his weight in a Powerful swing. Aiming not only for head of a horse but mostly at the tip of a spear. The rider raised his spear so it wouldn’t be destroyed. Sword reached poor animal slicing horse’s head off It didn’t stop Eldrych’s sword. With a thud raider went flying with blunt force alone. Eldrych looked at others barbarians. Two on horses and one with useless leg. They stared at him from save distance. Not caring about their companion. Eldrych used this moment to finish off the black knight closer to him. His armor bended severely from last strike. aiming for the head he raised giant sword and simply let it fell. It was more then enough to kill. He glanced once more at unmoving knights. “They don’t know what mercy is… and yet I’m still alive” He looked at his right leg - still in pain. An arrow sticks out from his calf. “Fuck…” Arrow shrank in size before his eyes going deeper and deeper inside his body. “Fuck!” Living poison. He knew it was to late to treat it now. Raiders knew this too. They were still waiting, watching him dying. Slowly. “Cutting my leg off not an option right now” He gathered corpses around him in a pile. “Fire mage would be really useful right now” Why it needed to rain on day of battle. Or rather on day of a sloughed Eldrych though. He got on top of his pile and raised the sword possibly the last time. Hilt up stabbing his own thigh. Right one of course. he was praying for luck. Because only luck could save him. Raiders eventually got bored and went looking for another victim to kill. But even after minutes of slow ride they sow it. Lightning stroke mad man’s sword knocking him out. They thought it was enough to kill him. But it only cleared poison in his leg. If scavengers won’t find him… Eldrych will live to fight again.

On this rainy day a battle was fought. Or rather...a one sided massacre happened. Their enemies fell like flies drawn into a flame, all except for one. He wasn't anybody special, he was an unnamed soldier like all his brothers around him. Standing defiantly against their numbers, his lance soaked with rain, mud, and blood. His armor carved, chipped, and dented beyond recognition. And his body bruised, stabbed, cut, and tired from the fighting. Yet this one last soldier stood defiantly against them, a great army with superior cavalry and numbers. He spoke not a word, fighting off every single attack thrown at him. He was a nobody before this battle, but during this moment he became both a legend to his allies...and a curse to us. That single knight with the elegant silver hair became hence forth known as "The Specter of vengeance". Nobody knows what happened to this legendary being. Some say he died that day, others claim to have seen him in the shadows just outside camp. Waiting for his time to strike us down like he did to our brethren. But we know one thing for certain: Alive or dead...he will get his revenge for that day. Whenever that day will be...will come eventually.

The Planet Broke before the Gaurd did

For giggles because this scenario popped into my head with a future character. Derroth can only vaguely remember why he got out of retirement. His farm suffered from a blight, and he needed money to put aside for his son. Yet he was 50, considered a venerable age for a Half-Orc, especially for a former guardsman. His late wife blessed him with five wonderful children, two of which he personally gave away to two deserving young men. The best years were behind him and he could have had his sons take care of this, and yet, here he was, the one who decided to stay behind and hold back a horde while the rest of those who had many more years ahead of them went on ahead to warn the lord of it's arrival. He didn't have to do it, and yet here he is. A man much more powerful than him offered to stay behind with him. One that commanded the power of the god of storms, and yet, when his back was turned, Derroth knocked him out with a single blow to the back of his head and sent him on his way with the last horse available in the keep. Meant for him in case he should retreat. Hopefully that man will forgive him for doing that to him. There doesn't need to be one more friendly body here. He idly scratched his heavily scarred face while he leaned up against the wall of the parapet and felt the stubble there, grumbling a little. He will need a shave when this is all over. If he survived. Chuckling to himself, the guardsman pulled out his axe, one fashioned from his woodcutter's axe to be better suited for battle, along with a whetstone, and got to work sharpening it one last time. He wasn't able to finish it in time before the thunderous gait of troops began to drown out his sound of the scraping of metal on stone. Sighing, he put the stone away and stood up, overlooking the host he plans to greet. So many bodies before him. It seemed to go on forever. Last time he spotted so many, he was younger and had the bodies of other good men with him to fight back the tide. Not this time. Hefting his axe, Derroth stood up and went down the steps to go greet them. As per the usual, the head commander came up to him astride his horse and offered some drek about offering him terms. The half-orc didn't give him a chance to finish before using his axe to cut a deep gash at the knees of the horse. He didn't want to do that to a good animal who's only crime is being rode by such a twit, but it was the best move he could have done. The horse let out a loud whinny as it collapsed with a spray of blood, warming his face. There was a scream from the commander as the horse fell on him, pinning him against the cold earth. Knowing that he was helpless, the Half-Orc stepped onto the side of the horse and brought the axe down upon the commander's head, silencing him before doing the same for the horse. The silence was deafening as the old guard pulled his axe out of the horse's skull with a wet squelch and bellowed out, "There is no quarter for monsters and men! I plan on dying today! How many of you plan on doing the same?!"

I like cool stories and that was insane in fact Im gonna write one too!: Deklan stood beside his master. Deklan was a squire and his master's name was Godfrey. They were caught in a thick battle and Deklan was standing by his master's side his short sword held out in front of him. Godfrey kept jumping in front of Deklan to block him from any enemy soldier but then they saw him. He was called The Elder. The Elder wore a long billowing cloak and solid black armor. He carried a large twohanded mace and he wore a helmet that covered his entire head and from the helmet came a terrifying voice. "Is that your squire?" The Elder asked. Godfrey simply didn't answer. He planted his feet, checked to make sure his shield was on tight enough, raised his sword, and charged. Deklan watched in awe as Godfrey fought The Elder. Sparks flew and Godfrey gave a brutal swing. A large chunk of The Elder's helmet went flying and the Elder was thrown to the ground. The Elder roared in anger and stood quickly to his feet. The Elder swung his blade and Godfrey blocked the swing with his sword but The Elder's blow was too strong. Godfrey's sword shattered and The Elder stabbed his blade forwards. The blade went all the way through Godfrey and Deklan screamed "GODFREYYYYY!!!!!" Deklan ran to Godfrey's side and Godfrey looked up into Deklan's eyes. Godfrey pulled from his neck a small necklace, a blue jewel upon it. Deklan looked at the jewel and Godfrey handed it to him. "U-u-use the power. Y-your time has come." Godfrey's hand fell away and Deklan's eyes widened as the jewel began to glow. The Elder laughed and said, "No silly little rock will save you, boy!" The Elder ran forward but then Deklan's body began to glow and a bolt of lightning struck The Elder sending him flying backwards. Deklan closed his eyes as he raised the stone and thunderclouds gathered. Lighting began to strike all around him and all over the battlefield, killing The Elder's forces and causing them to retreat. The Elder lay on his back and he looked up at Deklan. "Who are you?" He asked. Deklan picked up his sword and thrust The Elder through. He brought his face close up to The Elder and said "I'm a squire."

The battle of Shipka pass. 5,000 Bulgarian volunteers and 2,500 russian soldiers stood up against the 40,000 Ottoman bloodthirsty army. 3 days attack after attack, the Bulgarians were on their last stand, without any rainforsments. They threw the bodies of their fallen brothers against the ottoman soldiers. After 3 days the Bulgarian soldiers won the battle regardless of the great cost and one year after they earned their freedom after 500 years!

He looked around, watching as his comrades were butchered by the heavily armoured troops. An arrow struck into his shoulder, as he stumbled down. He looked like he wouldn't stand up, but they we wrong. He slowly stood up, waving his weapon around as the men on horseback were slaughtered. Due to this act, his comrades had more spirit in them, as they now fought back. he would rather die a warrior, fighting until his last death, than just a regular knight, falling to an arrow that struck his shoulder. The enemies screamed as they ran, thinking of him as a devil, as steam exited from under his helmet

It's so sad how badly all of us want to be the noble hero in the face of overwhelming odds, feeling like we can never feel such things because we cannot be knights on horseback, or stalwart lords protecting their kingdom. But we have to realize that against all odds, we're here, a life full of dangers and obstacles and negative forces, and it's that same spirit that gets you up to take on that army all alone, every day. Keep on living, because every day you're still standing is a day you held off your own army.

Alone he stands surrounded by many hostiles, all that he loved is gone. His once lively home is replaced by the blood of the innocent and the screams of captives that were once part of his embracing family. Knocked down to the ground several times, he rises yet again, this time his collar bone now protruding outwards and his spear and armor drenched in blooD, He looks at his opponent with laser like accuracy ready to strike and ready to give his last so that the people behind him may escape. Groggy and in pain he looks around at the blurred wasteland, vaguely able to identify the bloodied corpses of his fellow soldiers. This fuels his anger even more, and with a bloodcurdling scream he unleashes his fury. The first goliath comes at him, and he dodges the blow and launches a counter strike right to his knee, collapsing him. The warrior without hesitation lops off his head and watches it fall to the ground with a satisfying grin on his face, as he hears the ‘thud’. Almost immediately 3 enemy cavalry race out of the dark billowing smoke as though exiting from hell itself. The warrior now readies himself and slices the first horsemens leg with a swift blow. Almost simultaneously he looks around to see another horseman charging right at him. He parries the blow , and with a thrust of the spear, makes him fall to the ground. The warrior now looks up, was a fraction of a second too late, as before he could treat. The enemy sword pierced his abdomen open, and the warrior fell to the ground. The enemy raises up his sword to give the final blow, but the warrior still does not refuse to lay down, he catches the sword with his bare hands, and with tears in his eyes, he headbutts the enemy with the rim of his helmet. He now knows that the end is near, as he begins to see blotches of purple and red dancing around his eyes. His sword feels heavy, and his feet are almost at the breaking point. His body tells him to lie down but his heart is keeping it together at this point. The warrior understands that it's his duty to fight to the last breath,...hopefully his sacrifice won't be in vain, He thrusts his sword into that enemy causing him to collapse at once. But this time he knows that he won't be able to deal with the remaining enemies. The warlord brings down his axe, sparkling in the sunlight, right down upon the warrior's neck, and the only thing he could do in his last moments, gaze into the cold eyes of the enemy as he closes his eyes, and mumbles a silent prayer to his family. The weapon is a heavy blow right to the jugular vein and the warrior at once becomes a lifeless heap on the ground, The fiery passion that once burned in his eyes, has finally been dowsed by the coldness of the world. The stillness in the air is now felt by the enemies as if sympathizing with the loss of human life on this day.They look at the warrior’s body in aspiring awe, as the greatest warrior they had ever seen. The warrior is now finally at peace, having served his family honorably and dying a heroic death..hopefully his descendants will continue on his legacy….

He is the embodiment of a veteran, artist and a cold hearted murderer as he paints the ground bright red. How will he overcome this crisis? A kingdom's fate laid in his hands and with nowhere to go our beloved faces the horde of unending “beasts”.

Raindrops showered the battlefield, leaving it in a mixture of mud and blood. Everything leading up to this moment had gone wrong for the lone hero. As the captain of the guard, his task had been simple, hold back the enemy so the king could escape. Their armored enemies, the Reavers, had launched their attack just before dawn. The captain formed his men into a wall set between the incoming charge and the king's guardsmen. "We will kill all of these traitorous bastards!" he screamed loud enough for the enemy to overhear. "Make your death meaningful." The roar of the hooves stomping toward them, mixed with the screams of his men filled the open air. In an instant metal clashed, bones shattered, and horses whinnied as the two forces met. The elite guard fought valiantly but there were simply too many Reavers. They were overwhelmed. The captain threw his spear, impaling one foe just beneath his helmet. Slumping forward on his steed, the warrior gasped for air and dropped to the ground with a squish in the mud. Surveying the battlefield around him, the captain discovered he was all that survived of his men. He spun just in time to see a Reaver charging him. In a flash the captain rolled out of the way, narrowly avoiding being skewered by the rider's own spear. His body ached from the fight, but his heart was determined. "I'm still breathing you cowards...and I won't stop until I have killed each and every one of you!" The Reavers surrounded the lone warrior as he tightly gripped a weapon he had found beside him from one of his fallen comrades. His life now meant nothing if he failed. He would be damned if he wouldn't hold until the king got away. Digging down deep, he readied himself for the next attack.

With nothing but his shield and spear he stands against the seemingly endless horde of shadows that await him. He does not stutter nor does his step slacken, he quickens his pace and with a valliant cry, charges against the endless horde of night shouting "IF YOU WILL HAVE ME THEN IT WILL BY GLORY!"

The storm bellowed as a lone knight stood. The enemy knights charged and laughed. His brothers lay dead and he was barely standing. His own sword was broken, hands losing strength… Yet…. As his foes circled and mocked him for his weakness… He knew he had no choice… He grabbed a long blade, a blade itself matched the length of a spear, with a grip the length of his sword. “You wield a giant’s weapon, knight!” A rider mocked as he goes for a charge. A strike true through the heart, but… he dare not fall! “What in the gods name…?!” “This land… shall not be taken!” He roared as he used all his strength to swing his weapon and bisected both rider and mount! His first foe fell as he rose to his feet. He felt only the cold now… He looked to see the blood turn to vines that tied his hand to the grip. “What magic is this?!” “I swore to be the last wall of defense of my kingdom, wretched killers…” His voice horse as he coughed blood, blood as black as tar… “I shall not allow my kingdom to fall, even at the cost of my humanity.” His readied his hand to grab his sword with his right hand. A dark fog wrapped around his blade as he stared coldly. “Now… learn what beast you shall face… The Eternal Blade…” His foes charged as lightning rang as he walked stared… He has forgotten how many times he has seen himself in this place… the last of poor souls to fight, but he knows… this will not be the end of his chapter…

"Standing by his lonesome in midst of the calmed down battlefield, the Night Lord looked around at the bodies of his fellow soldiers and friends. An army of just fifteen thousand had fought valiantly against a force of a million enemies, leaving but their leader to be the last. His body was sore and exhausted, currently on one knee while using his sword to stay up. His helmet had long since been destroyed during the fight to save his head, allowing him to continue to fight in the bloodbath. Breathing raggedly, he looked out in the distance and saw many enemy soldiers who would soon be upon them. As they approached, he saw slow flashes of his memories, all happy and bad, showing him the respectable life he'd built from all the pain beneath him. One image hit him square in the chest. A image of the very Domain he'd built after losing his brother. The home that currently housed what remained of his friends and loved ones. They could not reach it. He wouldn't allow it. Using the help of his sword, the lone General stood and stared at the incoming wave of troops. With the rain hammering away at the ground and the bodies that amassed around the warrior, he placed one foot behind himself, his sword held firm as he waited for what he knew would be his finale."
