Mood reading all over the place! Love it!! And more people should read kid's books, the stories are often unique and the art is often amazing.

LET FRICKING GOOOO, Hyperion is so great, one of the best things i've ever read and it's the kind of books that grows more and more as it marinates in your brane. I read it a long time ago but still think about it very often. If you liked it maybe try A canticle for Leibowitz, another sci-fi masterpiece with lots of themes and also fun.

Congrats on the new job, Carlos! Picture books are so underrated. So many of them contain gorgeous works of art with touching stories. If I can get a hold of the audiobook, I’d like to pick-up Pop 1280. I’m intrigued. I appreciate the positive thoughts on Three Body Problem, which has long been collecting dust on my shelf. You both gave me a nudge towards prioritizing it. My condolences on the passing of your grandpa, Carlos. Take care.

Congratulations on the new job, Carlos! So sorry for your loss this month. Just wanted to say I picked up The Force after seeing you two talk about Don Winslow and had a blast. I’ll defo be picking up The Power of the Dog. Also, I read the Dark Forest this month and am really looking forward to Deaths end.

Ayeee, congrats on the job Carlos! Sounds like a fun month for both of you, my TBR is definitely crying a little bit after some of the gushes here lol. I especially need to get back into some Lehane (only read The Drop so far), and I also need to stop procrastinating reading Hyperion! My favourite book of July was probably The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy by Megan Bannen, really needed that fantasy romcom in my life 🤩

Thanks again for inviting me to read Pop 1280 with y'all. It was great. Alright Carlos, when are we reading Fall of Hyperion? Tehol Bedict and Bugg are the greatest duo in Malazan. Midnight Tides is one of my favorite books in the series. I'm spending August reading garbage. It is going to be great. Y'all both had a damn good month!

In July I read: «The Stone of Farewell» (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #2) by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy, a key influence for George R. R. Martin's « A Song of Ice and Fire») «Tiamat's Wrath» (The Expanse, #8) by James S.A. Corey (Space opera) «The Warrior Prophet» (The Prince of Nothing #2) by R. Scott Bakker (Grimdark/Dark Epic Fantasy inspired by the Crusades, Silmarillion & Dune) I really have a hard time picking my July book of the month between «The Stone of Farewell» & «The Warrior Prophet»!😅

Tad is great! And The Expanse! We need to continue Bakker

Sorry to hear about your Granda, Carlos ❤ Hyperion is my 2nd favourite Sci-Fi series ❤ I promise Criminal is my amazon cart. I mostly stuck to reading comics in July, just needed a change of pace and I just missed reading comics, especially Image Comics. I read: *Comics* Invincible Volume 1 Written by Robert Kirkman | Art by Cory Walker - I used to be a HUGE Walking Dead fan but as a kid and teenager I always preferred what I had read of Invincible. Jupiter's Legacy Volumes 1 & 2 Written by Mark Millar | Art by Wilfredo Torres - A lot of modern Millar reads like a film pitch but not this. It's mature but not as edgy as a lot of his creator-owned superhero stuff tends to be. Kick-Ass Volume 1 (re-read) Written by Mark Millar | Art by John Romita JR - A bit of a miss for me on re-read. JRJR's art is already an acquired taste but just doesn't do it for me anymore. Nailbiter Volume 1 (re-read) Written by Joshua Williamson | Art by Mike Henderson - I dunno what I was doing when I originally read this because I will definitely be trying to get to the next volume sooner than later. Saga Volume 1 (re-read) Written by Brian K Vaughan | Art by Fiona Staples - My favourite ongoing comic and I am YEARS behind 😅 Scott Pilgrim Volumes 1 - 2 (re-read) Written & Drawn By Bryan Lee O'Malley Sin City 1: The Hard Goodbye (re-read) Written & Drawn By Frank Miller - Visually speaking, Sin City is a treat. The use of negative space, shadows and caricature is breathtaking, I'm surprised how well this translated to film. The depictions of women is questionable tho. The Boys Volume 1 (re-read) Written by Garth Ennis | Art by Darick Robertson *Historical-Fantasy* The Last Light of the Sun / Guy Gavriel Kay - Underrated. Carried over from June. *Thriller* Winter of Frankie Machine / Don Winslow - Looking forward to reading more Winslow, Yolanda! I'm considering swapping back and forth between Lehane and Winslow. Carried over from June I'm currently in the middle of too many books 😅: *Grimdark Fantasy* Aspect-Emperor 2: White-luck Warrior (re-read) - As mind blowing as Bakker was on first read, the re-reads (so far) have been twice as impactful. The Blood Meridian inspiration is very prominent, and I like what Bakker does with it infinity better NGL. My priority read atm. *Historical-Fantasy* A Song for Arbonne / Guy Gavriel Kay *Sci-Fi* Cloud Atlas / David Mitchell - I'm not wild about the short story approach in SFF so I've been taking my time with it but so far it's gotten much better. Just finished the 4th story so I'm gonna put a temporary pause and read something else, preferably also Sci-Fi. *Western* Streets of Laredo / Larry McMurtry - It's great to be back with some of the Lonesome Dove crew.

Cheers Rogue! Great month for you too! Good few of those comics I've read and enjoyed. Although Nailbiter runs out of steam towards the end I'll get back to Bakker some day!

I know it's another Brubaker/Philips, but Kill or be Killed is an exceptional comic series! Less noir, more vigilante thriller with a hint of supernatural. Southern Bastards by Jason Aaron Scalped by Jason Aaron (I haven't read much of this) Department of Truth by James Tynion is pretty fun too Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion

Sorry for your loss Congrats for the new job and the potentially expanding library. Cassandra Clare. Let’s say: wayyyyyyyy better than Sarah J Maas. I had fun reading her books back then. Hyperion’s second book, Endymion is really great, don’t leave it out. Different premise, but great story. I recommend to bring up on the tbr that you never heard of Banks - Culture. (Actually who the heck invented the tbr?👀) Hope you could order the signed edition from Malazan. Steven Erikson just sent out the 7500 papers to broken bindings.
