I just watched a parade of American prisoners of war through the streets of Rome and I was horrified as Italian women and men tripped some over and sucker punched others. The same cowards were probably cheering and waving when the Allies marched in victorious a few months later.

Keep in mind Hitler ordered Paris destroyed and the German Leader thought him insane at the time and refused to do it.

Parisian public buildings were mined. It was the action of resistance which prevented the Germans from circulating to destroy them. Von Choltitz invented this legend. He never stopped asking for reinforcements to be able to destroy French buildings.

DeGaulle was an insufferable egomaniac who spent the war years safely tucked away in England stuffing his face at the expense of the British people and then, (when it was safe to do so), returned to Paris and led the "victory" parade as if he alone were responsible for the defeat of the entire German Wehrmacht.

A book I read about the last days of the war includes the tale of a German POW in an allied camp in Germany. He said when the surrender was announced the various nationalities began to celebrate. He said he didn't mind that the Americans and British were celebrating but it seriously bothered him to see the French join in. "They didn't have anything to do with it!" he said.

I know something else that the Germans used to say at the beginning of the war : "The British will fight to the last Frenchman".

The Americans refused to bomb Paris into the ground. They went around it until they heard of the internal uprising and then moved in.

The Americans have always bombarded French civilians and also used time bombs to kill rescuers. Example: 17 -18 April 1944 200 dead, hundreds injured. April 20 - 21 651 dead 461 injured. Go write your captions elsewhere.
