This tenor has the tone my daddy had when he was a young man. God I miss Dear Ole Dad...

Joe Connelly has such a unique voice. Of all barbershop voices, his is the one that I instantly go, "Hey there's Joe".

I love that they make you anticipate each chord just a little bit longer than you think. Awesome performance.

Good old fashion chord worship! Lock and ring. Consonant sound. This is why I got into Barbershop. I miss Old School.

The bass/bari slide around 2:49 is so SICK! WOW...
@brockjarrett78914 жыл бұрын
On the penultimate chord he was belting his note because on that particular part of that chord the tenor should be heard pretty well and then on the third the tenor should be up and out. And Kip's the freaking MASTER so obviously he executed the entire song perfectly :)

@TempestTenor there is actually a very good reason for him to switch to falsetto on the last note, it has to do with overtones and harmonics

This lead part is so difficult. It doesn't sound it but to lock all the chords and stay right on it with all the long notes is hard

The echo at the end of the verse (1:50) is from The Raps. Otherwise it's Buz Haeger's chart.

1) Love the super-low inversion V chord at 1:45. 2) Is it just me or did Kipp tighten up a bit on the second to last chord which forced him to play it safe on the last chord?

Whoops, the term "low inversion" is not correct. It should be "low voicing" instead. It's actually a really really low Chinese 7th chord. Could have used more 7th from the Bari =)

Awesome song, awesome quartet. I think it was a style choice to go back to falsetto for the final chord and I think it worked out fine. Although it didn't kinda fake you out though didn't it? :)

Old School were an obvious example how real, proper barbershop could "Live" against modern quartets jazz/pop/soul of the moment ( It's 2022 as I write this ) We need another quartet to form in this decade to remind the younger singers WHY we were made a Society in 1938.
