Last Stardew Valley Skull Cavern Guide You Will Ever Need

My Setup that I use when preparing for skull cavern, before going to bed I empty my inventory of everything besides: 1. The best melee weapon you have access to (prioritize knockback if anything as we will mostly ignore mobs) 2. Iridium pickaxe 3. Slingshot with as much explosive ammo as you can afford (anywhere from 500-999 ammo) 4. As many Mega Bomb as I can craft and buy from the dwarf 5. 10-20 stairs to leave monster floors. 6. For food buffs 1-2 Magic Rock Candies and/or 2-4 Spicy Eels 7. For Drink Buffs Triple Shot Espressos are necessary as speed is key so we need 5-7 8. For Healing LOTS of gold quality cheese 9. For rings if you haven't gotten to the volcano I go with an Iridium Band + a lucky ring, if I can combine rings I go with 2x lucky ring combined with 2 Iridium Bands for really far magnetism so you don't have to waste time walking towards bombed items 10. If you haven't unlocked the ability to craft desert warp totems you should at least buy 1 for the trip giving you an extra 4 hours in the mines which can net you extra prismatic shards and 100+ extra iridium ore. Some quick tips would be to: 1. Use the pickaxe as little as possible 2. Ignore enemies but you can hit them with the slingshot to hit ore that isn't up against the wall 3. Skip infested floors with stairs 4. Focus on getting to floor 100+ for higher chance of iridium 5. Prioritize iridium over any other ore 6. If stairs have appeared do not hesitate to go down unless you see a vein of 5+ iridium ore that is easy to get to. I managed to get to floor 200+ with 8 prismatic shards 2 Auto-Petters and 300+ iridium ore using this method in ONE of my runs, and once you do this strategy depending on your outcome you only need to do it 2-5 times to get everything you could ever need from skull cavern.

I'd say that the last bit of setup that you missed (if you don't mind your desert being ugly and it isn't filled with tree farms or anything like that) is a path of chair between the desert totem location and the cavern, because the time stops when you get into and out of a chair you can jump from chair to chair without passing a single minute in game time, and get to the entrance of the cave by 6:00 instead of 6:40, just be careful to not put any chairs in the path between Sandy's place and the bus because Emily comes to visit Sandy once in a while and she will destroy the chairs in her path. Anyway it's not much at all but it can help

What I did was to go on a lucky day (when the tv says the spirits will shower everyone with blessing or smtg like that) cuz luck affects the chance to find stairs iirc. Go there as soon as you wake up with the desert totem. Use explosive ammo and bombs if you can afford it because mining is too slow OR if you want it to be super easy, duplicate jades with crystalarium and buy stairs from the desert trader on a SUNDAY. Get at least 100 stairs and you can fly to floor 100 in no time :D

I got 25+ level deep in my first run, I was killed by dragons because I forgot to eat. It was fun and not bad for my first time right. Also I finished Qi's quest about hitting level 25 in Skull Cavern. I also didn't know Cheese is more effective than Salad I always eat until this video. Great tips! Most of which I knew already but good for beginners and those that have difficulty with skull cavern. In late game, I prefer to make 2+ luck ginger ales and either +4 luck lucky lunches or +5 luck magic candy. It's annoying how you're slower but you can find holes a LOT easier.

My best run is around floor 140, used max 5 stairs. My setup: 40-60 bombs and mega bombs 20-40 cherry bombs Iridium pick (its just a luxury thou) A slingshot with around 30 Ammo Galaxy sword (doesnt matter which sword thou) 5-10 staircases 40 salads Spicy eels Warp totem to desert, and to farm EDIT: I use lucky ring and glowstone ring (idk a lot thou, just the best i have) Strategy: ALWAYS get your health topped up, use the ślad even if you waste a bit of health points heal. Bomb with normal bombs to get as much stairs as possible Ignore ores that are not Iridium Pick um Iridium and gems Do not fight, use the sword to knock back annoying enemies If you need to clear the path, use cherry bombs or slingshot Around floor 60-70 you can start exploring a bit more, since the main purpose is Iridium Craft more bombs partway through Craft more staircases jf needed partway through Use staircases on prehistoric floors, when you are about to die or infested/enemy floors. If you have a lot of stair left you can use them on spiral floors or on floors which you got unlucky and didnt got the staircase fast. Tips for gathering the setup: For bombs just mine often, do not but them since they are overpriced as f. Use jade that you got from the mines for staircases, do not duplicate jades, use diamonds at crystalariums for money, you wont need that mamy stairs Salads are cheap, just but them from gus Spicy eels you can get with ruby, you can duplicate ruby, but i just use the Ruby from the mines. Warp totem to farm almost always drops in the cavern from something, and to desert trade it for 3 omni geodes. DO NOT but the recipe, you go to skull cavern like 1-3 times a season max, and from just one run you have 30 Omni geodes. Its just not worth 10 iridium bars, and then mats to craft it That's my way of doing it, if you want to add something tell me in replies, i will update it if it will be good.

Another good healing option: once you unlock your Ginger Island farm, turn it into a massive pineapple field. They regrow every 7 days without replanting, and gold quality pineapples heal for more health and energy than most of the recipes or other crops in the game. I keep all my gold pineapples for healing and sell/keg any silver and regular pineapples for big profits!

I think making 5 crystallurium (wrote wrong probably) instead of desert totem recipe at early has more impact to your game. While farming iridium ore, you already got many omnigeode. Just buy a couple warp totems instead of recipe. Btw, thank you! Your and a couple other guides shown me importance of stairs and bombs in the skull cavern as well as volcano bombs.

@@senmetwo42 A year 8 farm can do this pretty easily. Once your mass producing starfruit wine you basically have unlimited funds. You need to replicate the jades for staircases and rudys for spicyeels, then you just buy bombs from the dwarf. There's alot of setup however by year two you should be producing 18 or so staircases a week through jades. Then you keep doing skull cravern runs to build up your machines for more jades. I have a farm on year 10 that produces a hundreds of jades a week.

I think the main thing I learnt the first time watching was just to skip going back to bed, by this time in the game I had like half a million bucks anyway so a thousand was only a small dent. But coming back to this again I think the other thing I learnt was about pickaxe swinging! I really did spend so much time with my Gold Pickaxe taking multiple swipes at things when I could have just used a bomb or skipped the gold nodes entirely. But now I have my iridium pick and I'm excited to give it another go and farm up some crystalaria to fence in the Desert Trader!

For food, I used the Spicey Ell and Ginger Ale so I had speed and luck. I used the big bombs and moved fast. I also had rings to allow the item collection pan to increase. I wouldn't stop for long above floor200 unless I saw a grouping of at least 3 iridium within a step or two that a single bomb would allow collecting.

Since I'm already into the late game with my save file, and I have tons of staircases, this is what I do: I usually staircase to floor 200+ right away, not mining any ores along the way. It's not really worth the time, and the lower we go the more iridium ore we can find, and we will collect that one instead. When I get to the desired floor I eat a magic rock candy to increase my luck. (In my latest skull cavern run I tried also drinking Ginger Ale with Qi Seasoning to increase my luck even more, and it turned out okayish, I need to experiment more with it). Then I just bomb everything with the slingshot and bombs. I prioritize iridium ores as I also want to get prismatic shards. I usually make it to floor 350+ using this method, and it the end I get around 10 prismatic shards depending on how lucky I am, lol. I gotta say it's a pretty good deal, using 3 prismatic shards for the magic rock candy and then getting a 7 profit + tons of iridium and other ores!

The best food i can find is gold pineapple. It gives 111 health, easy to multiply and very easy with fertilizier. I use greenhouse or island and can find lots of them..

the deepest i've gotten in the skull caverns is... floor 3. the first ever serpent i killed gave me a prismatic shard, and the very next floor i entered had a swarm of ~10 serpents. i figured it was an omen (and the next day i got another prismatic shard from a regular slime in the mines! i was freaking out on discord lmao)

Fun fact, There's a secret level in junimo kart. On lvl 1, Collect every coin, cherry,orange,grape And don't die. That unlocks the secret level. I'm pretty sure there's a secret lvl for doing the same on the sea giant.

Actually, if you beat the second level in one minute or less (use the ice slopes well and conserve your momentum by jumping) you actually get to skip the third level! Really great tip since the gem sea giant always seems to snipe me

( The secret lvl is so easy ) I always pic the slime giant as my 3rd, But for a speed run beating lvl2 quickly is a better choice. Another way to get easy Iridium ore is the stash you get from the Grandpa shrine. Sometimes I get tend to sometimes I get 7 and sometimes I get 3. I didn't know that until I just got it.

I hit 65 on a casual day - not trying to get 100. Highest luck day plus pumpkin soup (+2 luck). Will defo do it again w lucky lunch. I got four treasure floors and the infested floors were super easy.

This guide is great for the most part, but there is one thing I disagree with. Purchasing the recipe for warp totem is a waste of iridium. Omni geodes are incredibly plentiful in the skull cavern, you can easily reach triple digit omni geodes in about a week of Skull Caverns, and omni geodes aren't really worth much for anything else. Conversely, crafting desert warp totems costs 4 iridium, 2 hardwood, and a coconut. Compared to 3 omni geodes this is significantly more expensive, you usually only get a couple coconuts at most per visit to the desert, hardwood is already often in short supply and needed for many other recipes, and iridium is the whole reason for going to the skull cavern, not to mention the very expensive 10 iridium bar cost for even buying the recipe. 10 warp totems either costs 30 omni geodes, or 40 iridium, 20 hardwood, and 10 coconuts. Compare these and it's pretty obvious which is the better deal. You can buy the recipe later if you want, and you need to for completion anyway, but it is 1000% better to spend your iridium on the pickaxe upgrade and crystalariums before buying the recipe.

Yeah this is the one thing that bugs me about this game. I feel like making the desert warp token should be *easier* after buy the recipe, not harder. Otherwise what's the point of the recipe? I've never bothered getting it for this reason.

In the early game the first few runs where you do not yet have staircases, iridium pickaxe, money for bombs, good food etc.. are the toughest. There are not much guide on this. On my best luck day I attempted a run and just reset the day if I didn't have a productive run. I just kept doing it repeatedly until I got lucky with iridium and then crafted crystalariums for jades. After a shed full of crystalarium level 200 is now a breeze.

Pumpkin soup is better than spicy eel. But I didn't even use it. I only used roots platter and I was able to get to floor 100 at 1:50am using 44 staircases. I used more than 10 in the last hour though cause it had already passed 1am when I got to level 90. Duplicate a lot of jade and trade for staircases. That's what I did.

The fortune TV that tells you if you're lucky is completely and utterly useless because the RNG for the mines can be completely different than what the TV tells you. Several dozens of times my TV tells me that "spirit will shower everyone with good fortune" but instead the mines never gave me a single drop hole and it takes me ages to finally found a stair despite me using bombs and in the end, I only reached floor 34 because no drop hole. On the other hand, when the TV tells me that my luck will be really bad, I got luckier in the mines and get tons and tons of drop hole.

Level seven is the most I've been able first time I've ever been this far in the game never could complete Community Centre because my fishing was so bad but somehow I tufted out and finally finished the tank the community centre skull cavern so mean to me I will never get iridium

I managed to get to floors 73 after decided to go for my first rush today. Died to dinosaurs cause i ran out of stones to craft a staircase and didn’t drink my Elixir on time. I lost half of the iridiums i found so i guessed it would be a reset. It’s so tough because you gotta need iridums to do a lot of things but the only way to farm is to skull cavern which also required them at first place for a smooth run ;(

I would not prioritize the desert totem recipe if you're short on iridium. If you've diving Skull cavern you should be swimming in omni geodes. Outside of completing the mineral collection they aren't super useful and have no sale value, so you're better off trading them in for desert warp totems (3 geodes) or artifact troves if you are short on artifacts.

Super food is easy to get once you have money coming in and increases speed...plus triple shot espresso.. both easy to get.then bring a few hundred large bombs and go to town. Way easier then a slingshot with explosive ammo. I never ever use the sling shot in this game.

the furthest I've been is floor 150 and I get stuck during 150 what I take with me at the start is coffee or triple shot if I make any follow by magic rock candies I take at least 20 with me since I don't really use them to heal by the time I get to floor 70+ I'm not of a bomb person it looks fun I didn't know you keep your stuff past 2am and only lose 1k gold I'll keep that in mind on my next run in the skull caverns

Actually, the best one is iridium quality goat cheese. Get goats, turn their milk into goat cheese, age it in casks. from 0:51

Cow cheese and goat cheese heal for 101 Health when gold quality and are automatically gold quality if you use large milk to make it. You can technically age the cheese but you are better off using your cask to age the products you are gonna sell.
